India reported 4,041 new coronavirus infections today, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 4,31,68,585. The active cases also increased to 21,177, according to the Union Health Ministry data.
The number of deaths due to COVID-19 climbed to 5,24,651 with 10 fatalities in the last 24 hours.
The active cases comprise 0.04 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.74 per cent, the ministry said.
An increase of 1,668 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in the last 24 hours.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.60 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.56 per cent, according to the ministry.

Maharashtra on Friday recorded 1,134 new coronavirus cases, the highest daily rise in cases since February 24, and three deaths, the state health department said.
The number of active cases rose 12 per cent and crossed the 5,000 mark, it added.
The caseload in the state rose to 78,90,346, and casualties reached 1,47,864.
The daily rise was the highest after 1,182 cases recorded on February 24, and was a sizable jump from the 1,045 cases recorded on Thursday, an official said.
Delhi on Friday logged 345 new COVID-19 cases and zero deaths while the positivity rate stood at 1.88 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department.
With this, Delhi's COVID-19 cases increased to 19,07,982 while casualties stood at 26,212.
Mumbai reported 763 COVID-19 cases on Friday, the third consecutive day when the addition to the tally was above 700, taking the infection caseload here to 10,68,008, while casualties remained unchanged at 19,567, a civic official said.
The addition to the numbers was the highest since February 4, when the figure was 846, and was a rise from the 704 reported on Thursday and 739 on Wednesday, he pointed out.
Concerned due to a slight upsurge in COVID-19 cases in the country, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written to five states that are "reporting a higher contribution to India's cases".

Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar has tested positive for COVID-19. Confirming the news in a tweet on Thursday evening, Mr Sudhakar wrote, "I have tested positive for COVID-19, after being uninfected through three waves of the pandemic".
