Coronavirus Highlights: India Records Over 20,000 New Covid Cases 24 Hours

COVID-19 Highlights: The active cases comprise 0.31 per cent of the total infections.

New Delhi:

With 20,551 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India's tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,41,07,588, while the active cases declined to 1,35,364, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

The death count climbed to 5,26,600 with 70 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.31 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.50 per cent, the ministry said.

2,419 Covid Cases In Delhi Today, Highest In 6 Months
Delhi on Friday recorded 2,419 new Covid cases, the highest in six months, with a positivity rate of 12.95 per cent, while two more people died due to the disease, according to health department data.

It was the third consecutive day that the daily count of COVID-19 cases crossed the 2,000-mark.

Also, this was the fourth day in a row that the positivity rate breached the 10-per cent mark.

Tamil Nadu Registers 1,141 New COVID-19 Cases
Tamil Nadu recorded 1,141 new COVID-19 cases on Friday taking the overall cases to 35,50,547.

The state continued to maintain casualties at 38,033, as no deaths were reported today as well, according to a bulletin from the State health department here.

823 New Covid Cases, 2 Deaths Reported In Jammu And Kashmir
Jammu and Kashmir registered 823 new COVID-9 cases on Friday, taking the total cases in the union territory to 4,68,245, officials said here.

Two new deaths were also reported due to Covid, they said.

While 190 cases were reported from Jammu division, 633 cases were reported from Kashmir valley, the officials said.

Maharashtra Registers 2,024 New COVID-19 Cases, 5 Deaths
Maharashtra on Friday recorded 2,024 COVID-19 cases and five deaths linked to the infection, which took the total number of cases to 80,55,989 and casualties to 1,48,129, a health department official said.
On Thursday, the state recorded 1,862 and seven fatalities.

The five deaths comprised two each in Mumbai and Pune and one in Akola, he said.

Mumbai accounted for 446 of the new cases reported during the day, the official said.
