India today reported 1,247 new Covid cases - a 43 per cent decline from yesterday. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the country also reported 1 Covid-related death, bringing the total number of fatalities to 5,21,966.
Active cases in the country stands at 11,860 which accounts for 0.03 per cent of the total cases.
During this period, the daily positivity rate increased to 0.83 from 0.31 per cent yesterday. The weekly positivity rate saw a minor uptick as it currently stands at 0.32 per cent.
928 Covid patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours. The total number of recoveries jumped to 4,25,11,701 since the beginning of the pandemic in the country. The recovery rate currently is at 98.76 per cent.

After a steady decline in Covid cases, Delhi has been witnessing a spurt in new infections with the positivity rate registering a nearly three-fold rise between April 11-18, according to city health department data.
On April 11, the positivity rate stood at 2.70 percent which jumped to 3.95 percent on April 15 followed by 5.33 percent on April 16 and 7.72 percent on April 18, according to the data.
Last week, Delhi recorded a total of 2,606 positive Covid cases against 67,360 tests conducted during the period while the average positive rate was 4.79 percent, it showed.
On April 11, 5,079 Covid tests were conducted of which 137 came out positive while on April 18, 6,492 tests were conducted and over 501 people tested positive, according to the data provided by the Delhi government.
The national capital registered two deaths due to Covid during this period.
Thirty-three children were among 107 people who tested positive for COVID-19 in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar district on Tuesday, officials told news agency Press Trust of India.
The number of active cases in Gautam Buddh Nagar, adjoining Delhi, has reached 411, they said.
According to the official figures, 107 more people have tested positive since Monday 6 AM while 32 patients got cured during this period.
"Of the 107 new cases, 33 are children who have tested positive for COVID-19," Chief Medical Officer Dr Sunil Kumar Sharma said.
Amid a rise in COVID-19 cases, District Magistrate Suhas L Yathiraj had on Sunday urged public to not panic but take precaution against the virus.
He had also appealed to the people to contact helpline number 1800492211 for any COVID-19-related assistance.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 99,154 people in Gautam Buddh Nagar have tested positive for COVID-19, while 490 of them have died due to the infection, according to official data.
Mizoram's COVID-19 tally rose to 2,26,271 today as 99 more people, including 28 children, tested positive for the infection, a health official said.
The northeastern state had reported 61 cases on Monday. The number of deaths stood at 692 as no fresh fatality was recorded since Sunday.
The single-day positivity rate dipped to 8.40 per cent as 1,178 samples were tested for COVID-19.
The state now has 559 active cases, while 2,25,020 people have recovered from the infection so far, including 129 on Monday, he said.
The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients in the state stood at 99.44 per cent.

No new case of coronavirus was reported in Puducherry again on Tuesday, a senior health official said.
None of the four regions of the Union Territory - Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam -- registered any new case of the viral infection, Director of the Department of Health G Sriramulu said in a press release.
He said 207 samples were examined in the last 24 hours and no fresh case surfaced. The active cases count remained unchanged at three with all from Karaikal region.
The health department has tested 22,31,980 samples so far across the UT and has found 18,76,877 samples out of them to be negative.
Mr Sriramulu said the overall caseload remained 1,65,777 and total recoveries also stood the same at 1,63,812. As there was no fresh fatality, the number of deaths was the same as well at 1,962.
The Director said the test positivity rate remained zero and the fatality and recovery rates were also 1.81 per cent and 98.81 per cent, respectively.
The health department has administered 16,64,293 doses which comprised 9,61,117 first doses, 6,85,312 second doses and 17,864 booster doses, the Director further said.
