Fourth COVID-19 wave may hit Goa in June-July, people must follow mask mandate
The Goa government's expert committee on COVID-19 on Monday advised people to continue wearing face masks when outdoors as a safety protocol and predicted a possible fourth wave of the pandemic in the coastal state in June or July.

He said though the number of daily coronavirus cases has reduced drastically in Goa, there is probability that the fourth wave may hit the state in June or July.

 For the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020, Andhra Pradesh did not report any fresh case of Covid-19 on Monday.

Chhattisgarh logs six COVID-19 cases, no fatality

The overall recovery count in Chhattisgarh rose to 11,38,184, leaving the state with 23 active cases, he said.

"Balrampur recorded two cases followed by one in Bilaspur among other districts. No new coronavirus cases were reported in 23 districts. As of Monday, no active cases were reported in 14 districts in the state," the official said.

20 more test Covid positive in Punjab; one death
Punjab on Monday reported 20 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the infection tally to 7,59,442, according to a medical bulletin.

Punjab has witnessed 349 fresh cases of COVID-19 so far this April, it said.

The number of active cases in the state stands at 167, the bulletin said.

Of the fresh cases, Jalandhar reported eight followed by six in Mohali and three in Patiala.

Telangana reports 34 new COVID-19 cases
Telangana on Monday recorded 34 new COVID-19 cases taking the total caseload to 7,91,827.
Hyderabad reported the highest number of cases with 26.

A health department bulletin said no fresh fatality occurred due to the infection and the death count continued to be 4,111.

Fifteen people recuperated from the infectious disease raising the cumulative number of recoveries till date to 7,87,484. The recovery rate stood at 99.45 per cent.

Madhya Pradesh sees 4 COVID-19 cases, 1 death, 3 recoveries; active tally now 70
 The COVID-19 tally in Madhya Pradesh reached 10,41,323 on Monday after the detection of four cases, while one death in the last 24 hours, in Jabalpur, took the toll to 10,735, a health department official said.

The recovery count increased by three and stood at 10,30,518, leaving the state with 70 active cases, the official informed.

With 6,251 samples examined during the day, the number of tests in MP went up to 2,90,46,195, he added.

Wearing face masks in schools, offices, malls made mandatory in Chandigarh
 The Chandigarh administration on Monday made wearing of face masks compulsory in "closed environments" like schools, offices and cinema halls to fight the Covid pandemic.

Wearing of masks has been made mandatory in "closed environments" like cinema halls, malls, departmental stores, shops, schools, colleges, coaching centres, library, government and private offices, buses, taxis, auto rickshaws and all types of indoor gatherings, it stated.

Violation will be punishable by a fine of Rs 500, according to the order.

"Non-payment of fine by violators will attract proceedings under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code," it stated.

Maharashtra sees 84 COVID-19 cases, down from 144 day before
Maharashtra on Monday reported 84 COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 78,76,925, while the death count remained unchanged at 1,47,834 with no fresh fatality, a health department official said.

Of the 84 cases reported during the day, a dominant 56 were from Mumbai metropolitan region (MMR), including 45 from the metropolis, followed by 23 from Pune, four from Nagpur and one from Kolhapur.

So far, 77,28,162 people have been discharged post the COVID-19 recovery, including 71 in the last 24 hours, leaving Maharashtra with 929 active cases, the official added.

Covid 4th wave concerns: Karnataka makes masks, social distancing mandatory
Amid fresh COVID-19 concerns in different parts of the country and apprehensions about a possible fourth wave of the pandemic, the Karnataka government on Monday decided to issue guidelines making wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing compulsory.

"Masks should be worn compulsorily, especially at places where there is a crowd and in indoor places, social distancing has to be maintained. Guidelines will be issued today to this effect. We have not taken any decision regarding imposing any penalty immediately," Health Minister K Sudhakar said.

Covid: Over six-fold rise in patients under home isolation in Delhi
The number of coronavirus patients in home isolation in the national capital has seen an over six-fold increase from 447 on April 11 to 2,812 on April 24, according to official data.

The city is witnessing a spurt in COVID-19 cases over the past few days with the number of active cases increasing to 3,975 from 601 on April 11.

The hospitalisation rate, however, has so far been low, accounting for less than three per cent of the total active cases, according to the data.
