Coronavirus Highlights: Covid Mock Drills Across India Today

India Covid Live: India recorded 157 new COVID-19 cases today.

New Delhi:

Nationwide drills are being held today to check how prepared the hospitals are to tackle any spike in Covid cases. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya oversaw the drill at the Safdarjung Hospital this morning. The exercises are being led by health ministers of the states concerned.

India recorded 157 new COVID-19 cases today.

Covid Live: Mock Drills Held At Hospitals Across Karnataka 

The COVID response mock drills to check readiness to deal with any increase in the number of Coronavirus cases was successfully held at hospitals across the state, Karnataka Health Minister Sudhakar said on Tuesday.

He assured that readiness will be constantly monitored and reviewed.

The Minister also called on people to join hands with the government and follow precautionary measures, while making it clear that there is no proposal to impose restrictions that will hamper economic activities.

Covid Live: Mock Drill Held At Kozhikode Medical College In Kerala

To assess Kerala's preparedness to appropriately deal with another outbreak, if any, of COVID-19, a mock drill was held at the Kozhikode Medical College on Tuesday.

The drill was carried out to assess the readiness of the medical college to cater to category 'C' COVID-19 patients, those who need ventilator support, and also the availability of PPE kits, masks and requisite medicines, in the wake of a recent surge in infections in China.

Covid Live: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Holds Review Meeting

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday held a review meeting on the prevailing Covid situation and decided to write a letter to the Centre seeking to reduce the gap for administering a 'precautionary dose' from the existing nine months to six months, Chief Minister's Office said in a statement.

The Chief Minister directed the Medical and Health Department to fill the existing vacancies of doctors and para-medical posts by January 26 besides providing accommodation and other necessary facilities to staff members working in the Department in agency areas.

CM held a review meeting on the Covid new variant BF 7 challenge, on the construction of village clinics.

As per the release, CM also asked officials to complete the construction of village clinics by January 26 and provide video conferencing facilities to all teaching hospitals and Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs).

Covid Live: Mock Drill Held In Telangana Hospitals, Says Official

Telangana is fully geared up to tackle any situation with regard to COVID-19, Dr Ramesh Reddy, Director of Medical Education said on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters, Dr Reddy said Covid mock drill to check infrastructure and preparedness to combat in case there is any spike in coronavirus cases has been conducted across all teaching, private, district, area and community hospitals in the state.

He said Gandhi Hospital, a COVID-19 nodal facility has genome sequencing centre and as when any new variant is detected, tracing and subsequent action will be initiated.

Covid Live: Mock Drills Conducted At Goa Hospitals

Health authorities in Goa conducted mock drills at designated hospitals, including the super speciality block at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), on Tuesday to check the state's preparedness to deal with rise in COVID-19 cases.

State Health Secretary Arun Kumar Mishra, who supervised the mock drill at the GMCH, said the state is geared up to face any situation.

Talking to reporters at the super speciality block of the GMCH, Mr Mishra said intensive care units, oxygen plants, medicine supplies, wards among other facilities were checked during the mock drill.

There is enough oxygen supply to meet the peak hour requirement at the hospital, he said.

India recorded a single-day rise of 157 new COVID-19 cases, while the count of active cases of the disease has marginally decreased to 3,421, according to Union Health Ministry data updated today. The Covid tally in the country has now gone up to 4.46 crore. The death count due to the disease stands at 5,30,696 with one being reconciled by Kerala.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia will be present at the state-run Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital in the city during the mock drill to ascertain Covid preparedness of the facility, official sources told PTI. Covid Live Updates: 1 New Case In Maharashtra's Thane, Active Tally At 11
One new COVID-19 case has been reported in Maharashtra's Thane district, taking its infection count to 7,47,394, a health official said on Tuesday. The new case was recorded on Monday, he said. There are currently 11 active COVID-19 cases in the district, which comes under the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, he said. No death was reported on Monday and the fatality count remained unchanged at 11,967.
