Assam's Cachar district makes face masks mandatory as Covid cases rise

"All the Doctors, Paramedical Staffs and other Staffs of Health Institutions/Hospitals (Both Government and Private) are to use compulsory face masks during service delivery (i.e. in OPD, Emergency, IPD, OT, Labor room, Laboratory. Waiting areas, Registration Counter etc.). All people are to mandatory use face mask during attending any type of gathering," it added.

All the shop owners or business establishments are to ensure COVID-appropriate behaviours (hand hygiene, face mask, social distancing, no smoking in public places, no spitting in public places) within their jurisdiction.

 The Karnataka government has prepared district-wise micro plans for conducting workplace vaccinations along with door-to-door inoculation drive to implement the 75-days COVID Vaccine Amrit Mahotsav.

"The government is ready with a plan to vaccinate 4.34 crore eligible beneficiaries in next 75 days in 8,000 Government COVID Vaccination Centres across the state," the minister said.

As of now, the state has a stock of 8.84 lakh doses of Covishield and 31.55 lakh doses of Covaxin, he said.

Arunachal Pradesh Logs 43 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours

Arunachal Pradesh's COVID-19 tally mounted to 64,835 on Friday as 43 more people tested positive for the virus, a senior health department official said.

The state had recorded 45 cases on Thursday, the highest single-day spike in a fortnight.

The death count, however, remained unchanged at 296, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Lobsang Jampa said.

Arunachal Pradesh, which remained Covid-free for the last couple of months, has been witnessing a surge in cases since July 1, Lobsang Jampa said.

The Capital Complex Region reported 14 new infections, followed by eight in Namsai district, seven in Lohit, and four each from Lower Dibang Valley and Lower Subansiri district.

The state now has 222 active cases, while 64,317 patients have recovered from the disease so far, the official said.

A total of 12,77,972 samples have thus far been tested for COVID-19, Lobsang Jampa added.

Mizoram Logs 119 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours

Mizoram registered 119 new COVID-19 cases with a single-day positivity rate of 20.24 per cent, pushing the tally to 2,30,348, a health department official said today.

The coronavirus death count, however, remained at 706, he said. On Thursday, the state had reported 105 fresh infections.

Mizoram has the second highest number of active cases in the northeastern region, at 1,067, after Assam (3,150) , as per official data on Friday.

The new cases were reported from Aizawl district (61), Lunglei (38), Saitual (14), Champhai (4) and Hnahthial (2).

A total of 2,28,575 people have so far recovered from the disease, including 16 since Thursday, the official said.

The state has thus far tested 19.43 lakh samples for COVID-19.

Assam Logs 707 New COVID-19 Cases, 2 Deaths In 24 Hours

Assam has reported 707 new COVID-19 cases, the highest in the last five months, and two persons have died due to the infection during the past 24 hours, according to the National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin today.

The two deaths took place in Darrang and Kamrup Metro districts pushing the death count in the disease has now increased to 6645, while another 1347 coronavirus positive patients have died in the state due to other reasons since April, 2020, the bulletin said.

The total number of affected now stands at 7,28,616 and the positivity rate has increased to 11.55 per cent during the last 24 hours from the previous day's 10.75 per cent, it said.

The 707 new cases were detected from 6,123 tests conducted during the last 24 hours.

The number of active cases have increased to 3150 as against the previous day's 2584 while 139 patients were discharged during the day.

Jorhat reported the highest number of 93 cases, followed by 69 in Kamrup Metro, 67 in Dibrugarh and 58 in Goalpara.

A total of 7,17,472 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals so far and the recovery rate is 98.47 per cent.

A total of 28,427,031 samples have been tested so far in the state, according to the bulletin.

Altogether 4,69,94,679 doses of vaccines, including 2,45,84,811 first doses, 2,15,14,882 second doses and 8,94,986 precaution doses have been administered so far, the bulletin added.

Maharashtra's Thane Records 168 New COVID-19 Cases, 1 Death In 24 Hours

Thane district in Maharashtra has reported 168 new coronavirus positive cases, which took its overall infection count to 7,32,105, a health official said today.

With this addition, there are now 1,518 active cases in the district, he said.

The death count rose by one to reach 11,918, while the recovery count stood at 7,18,623, the official added.
