Mizoram Logs 66 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours

Mizoram today reported 66 new COVID-19 cases, 53 less than the previous day, with the tally increasing to 2,30,414, a health official said.

Of the fresh cases, 49 were registered in Aizawl district, followed by Saitual (12), Hnahthial (three) and Champhai (two), he said.

The single-day positivity rate dipped to 16.8 per cent from 20.24 per cent the previous day as the new cases were detected from 408 sample tests.

The death count remained at 706 as no fresh fatality due to the infection was reported in the last 24 hours, he said.

Mizoram now has 1,102 active cases, while 2,28,606 people have so far recovered from the disease, including 31 since Friday.

The discharge rate stood at 99.21 per cent.

The state has so far tested 19.43 lakh samples for COVID-19, the official said.

State Health Minister Dr. R. Lalthangliana has urged all the chief medical officers to revive the dedicated COVID health centres in their respective districts in view of the rising caseload.

The minister also appealed to all district hospitals, community, primary and urban health centres to make arrangement for sample tests for the coronavirus infection.

Maharashtra's Thane Logs 161 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours

With the addition of 161 coronavirus positive cases, the infection tally in Maharashtra's Thane district rose to 7,32,266, a health official said today.

These cases recorded on Friday took the active tally in the district to 1,414.

The death count remained unchanged at 11,919 as nobody succumbed to the infection during the day, while the count of recoveries has reached 7,18,771, he said.

Arunachal Pradesh Logs 41 New Covid Cases In 24 Hours

Arunachal Pradesh reported 41 fresh COVID 19 cases in the past 24 hours and will start contact tracing from today, a senior health department official said.

With the fresh cases the caseload in Arunachal Pradesh has risen to 64,876 on Saturday.

The death count remained unchanged at 296, state surveillance officer (SSO) Lobsang Jampa said.

The northeastern state had remained virus-free for the last couple of months. It has been witnessing a surge in coronavirus cases since July 1 like in the other parts of the country, the SSO said.

Among the new cases, 12 were reported from the capital complex region, 11 from Namsai district, four from Leparada, three from Lower Dibang Valley and two each in Anjaw, Changlang and Lower Subansiri districts.

Arunachal Pradesh currently has 241 active cases, while 64,339 patients have recovered including 22 on Friday, the official said.

The recovery rate stands at 99.17 per cent, while the active ratio stood at 0.37 per cent, Jampa said.

Lohit district has the highest number of 49 active cases. The capital complex region comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas has 49 active coronavirus cases.

A total of 12,78,198 samples have been tested for Coronavirus in the state, including 226 on Friday, Jampa said.

So far a total 18,09,833 people have been administered the COVID-19 vaccine, including, 42,287 booster doses, state immunisation officer Dimong Padung said.

Meanwhile, the state health department will start contact tracing for COVID-19 from Saturday and rapid response teams will be activated, Jampa said.

"Micro containment zones will be declared based on the number of cases," he said.

Assam Reports Over 700 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours

Assam logged 706 fresh COVID-19 cases, pushing the tally to 7,29,322, while the death count mounted to 6,646 with one more fatality, a National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin said.

The positivity rate stood at 11.15 per cent, with 6,334 sample being tested since Friday.

The northeastern state now has 3,434 active cases, while 7,17,893 people have recovered from the disease so far, the bulletin said. The highest number of new cases was registered in Dhubri (66), followed by Dibrugarh (62), Goalpara (59) and Kamrup (Rural) with 54 infections.

The lone casualty was reported from West Karbi Anglong district, it said. Assam has tested a total of 2,84,33,365 samples for COVID-19. Meanwhile, the NHM bulletin also said 4,70,72,044 doses of vaccines have been administered in the state till date.
