COVID-19 Highlights: India Logs 16,935 New Covid Cases, 51 Deaths In 24 Hours

The active cases comprise 0.33 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.47 per cent.

An increase of 1,687 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload.

New Delhi:

India added 16,935 new coronavirus infections in a day, taking the country's tally to 4,37,67,534, while the active cases increased to 1,44,264, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

The death count climbed to 5,25,709 with 49 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.33 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.47 per cent, the ministry said.

Covid Update: Odisha Registers 816 New Covid Cases, 1 Casualty
Odisha recorded 816 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, while another patient succumbed to the disease, the health department said.
The active cases climbed to 5,911, out of which 2,011 patients are in Khurda district, it said.

The test positivity rate was 4.59 per cent as the cases were detected out of 17,787 samples. As many as 118 children were among the new patients, according to a bulletin.

Maharashtra Covid cases: 148 new COVID-19 cases in Thane, 2 deaths

Maharashtra's Thane district has reported 148 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths, raising its infection tally to 7,32,560 and the fatality toll to 11,921, a health official said on Monday.
These new cases and deaths were reported on Sunday, he said.

The district currently has 1,354 active COVID-19 cases, while the recovery count has reached 7,19,137, the official added.

Assam's COVID-19 tally rose to 7,30,143 as 149 more people tested positive for the infection while three new fatalities pushed the death toll to 6,668, a National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin said. The three deaths were reported from Kamrup (Rural), Nagaon and Udalguri districts.

Of the 149 new cases detected on Sunday, Kamrup (Metro) district reported the highest of 38, followed by 25 in Sivasagar, 23 in Cachar and nine in Nagaon.

The positivity rate marginally declined to 10.47 per cent as against the previous day's 10.50 per cent.

Assam currently has 3,691 active case as against the previous day's 3,896.

Arunachal adds 14 fresh Covid cases

Arunachal Pradesh reported 14 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, pushing the tally to 64,924, news agency PTI reported quoting a senior health department official. The northeastern state reported 34 cases on Sunday, the official said.

The COVID-19 death toll remained unchanged at 296, with no new fatality recorded in the past 24 hours, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

Arunachal Pradesh, which remained virus-free for the last couple of months, had been witnessing a surge in COVID-19 cases since July 1, much like some other parts of the country, the SSO said.

12 fresh COVID-19 cases in Andamans

The COVID-19 tally of Andaman and Nicobar Islands rose to 10,320 on Monday as 12 more people tested positive for the infection, PTI reported quoting a health bulletin. Three new patients have travel history, while nine infections were detected during contact tracing, it said.

The Union territory now has 57 active cases, while 10,134 people have recovered from the disease so far, including 12 in the last 24 hours.

A total of 129 people have succumbed to the infection to date.
