India recorded a total of 21,566 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the country's Covid tally to 4,38,25,185. The active cases increased to 1,48,881, according to the Union Health Ministry data.
The death count climbed to 5,25,870 with 45 new fatalities due to Covid in the last 24 hours.
The active cases comprise 0.33 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.47 per cent, the ministry said.

Odisha Logs 1,196 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours
Odisha's COVID-19 tally rose to 13,03,191 today as 1,196 more people, including 169 children, tested positive for the infection, 74 more than the previous day, a health bulletin said.
With the fresh infections, the state registered the highest single-day spike since February 12, when 1,539 cases were recorded.
The daily positivity rate was at 5.18 per cent as 23,078 samples were tested for COVID-19.
Khurda district, where the state capital Bhubaneswar is located, reported the highest number of fresh cases at 312, followed by Sundargarh (174) and Cuttack (109).
The number of active cases climbed to 7,093, of which 2,218 are in Khurda.
The death count remained unchanged at 9,130 as no fresh fatality was recorded. Fifty-three other patients have died due to comorbidities so far.
A total of 12,86,915 people have recovered from the disease thus far, including 804 in the last 24 hours, it added.

8 New COVID-19 Cases In Andamans In 24 Hours
The COVID-19 tally of Andaman and Nicobar Islands rose to 10,348 today as eight more people tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said.
Two new patients have travel history, while six fresh infections were detected during contact tracing.
The Union Territory now has 58 active cases, while 10,161 people have recovered from the disease so far, including nine in the last 24 hours.
A total of 129 patients have succumbed to the infection to date.
The administration has thus far tested over 7.61 lakh samples for COVID-19, and fully vaccinated 3.42 lakh people.

Assam Adds 830 New COVID-19 Cases Today, Highest Since February 3
Assam logged 830 fresh COVID-19 cases, the highest single-day spike since February 3, pushing the tally to 7,32,492, the National Health Mission (NHM) said. During the last 24 hours, two persons died due to the infection - one each in Jorhat and Nalbari - it said. The death count stands at 8,008.
The state's positivity rate rose to 10.85 per cent, as 7,651 samples were tested on Wednesday. On February 3, it had reported 1,019 new cases out of 33,489 samples that were tested.
Assam now has 5,243 active cases, while a total of 7,19,241 people have recovered from the disease so far, the NHM said.
Kamrup Metropolitan district, which primarily comprises Guwahati city, reported 37 fresh cases, followed by Baksa (84), Sonitpur (71) and Dibrugarh (57).
Altogether, 4,74,99,631 doses of vaccines have been administered in the state till Wednesday, the NHM added.

Maharashtra's Thane Records 148 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours
As many as 148 new cases of coronavirus have been detected in Maharashtra's Thane district, taking its infection count to 7,32,947, a health official said today.
With the addition of the latest cases on Wednesday, the district currently has 1,052 active COVID-19 cases, he said.
One death was also recorded on Wednesday, which took the fatality count in Thane to 11,923, he said.
The recovery count in the district has reached 7,19,823, the official said.
