The death count climbed to 5,26,033 with 36 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.
The active cases comprise 0.35 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.45 per cent, the ministry said.

Tamil Nadu reported 1,945 new COVID cases in the last 24 hours, said the health bulletin by the state Health Department on Sunday.
With this, the active cases in Tamil Nadu stand at 15,409.
Chhattisgarh on Sunday reported 196 COVID-19 cases at a positivity rate of 4.91 per cent, taking the tally to 11,62,588, while the death toll increased by one to reach 14,057, an official said.
The recovery count increased by 212 to touch 11,44,718, leaving the state with 3,813 active cases, he said.
The COVID-19 tally in Madhya Pradesh reached 10,48,295 on Sunday after the detection of 237 cases, an official said.
The death count remained at 10,747 with no death reported in the last 24 hours, he added.
The positivity rate, or cases detected per 100 tests, came down to 3.13 per cent from 3.2 per cent the previous day, the official said.
The recovery count increased by 209 to touch 10,36,006, leaving the state with 1,542 active cases, the official informed.
Gujarat on Sunday reported 842 fresh COVID-19 cases, including 250 in Ahmedabad district, taking the overall tally of infections to 12,48,487, the state health department said.
A total of 598 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, which raised the number of recoveries in Gujarat to 12,31,813 so far, leaving the state with 5,714 active cases.
With no new COVID-19 fatality, the death count in the state remained unchanged at 10,960, a health department release said.
Tripura on Sunday reported 446 new COVID-19 cases, 230 more than the previous day, with the tally mounting to 1,04,728, a health department bulletin said.
The death count rose to 922 as one more person succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, it said.
The fresh COVID fatality was reported at GB Pant Hospital here, and the patient had other ailments, a health department official said.
Mumbai on Sunday recorded 238 COVID-19 cases and two deaths, taking the tally in the metropolis to 11,22,912 and the toll to 19,640, a civic official said.
The addition to the tally was less than the 266 recorded a day earlier, he pointed out.
Only 33 of the new cases are symptomatic, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official added.
