Coronavirus Highlights: India Logs 20,279 New Covid Cases, 36 Deaths In 24 Hours

India COVID-19 Live: The active cases comprise 0.33 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.47 per cent, the ministry said.

India COVID-19 Highlights : The national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.47%

India recorded a total of 20,279 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the country's overall Covid tally to 4,38,88,755. The active cases increased to 1,52,200, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

The death count climbed to 5,26,033 with 36 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.35 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.45 per cent, the ministry said.

Chhattisgarh logs 543 new Covid cases, 1 death
Chhattisgarh on Monday reported 543 Covid cases at a positivity rate of 5.20%, taking the tally to 11,63,131.
The death toll increased by one to reach 14,058, news agency PTI reported quoting official.

The recovery count stood increased by 465 and stood at 11,45,183, leaving the state with 3,890 active cases, he said.

Delhi logs 463 new Covid cases, 2 deaths
Delhi on Monday logged 463 fresh coronavirus cases and two fatalities as the positivity rate climbed to 8.18%, highest in over a month, according to city health department data.

This is the third consecutive day the positivity rate has remained above 5% in the city.

The number of active cases in Delhi stands at 2,548  from 2,696 the previous day. As many as 1,939 Covid patients are under home isolation, the bulletin showed.

Gujarat reports 633 new Covid cases, 0 deaths
Gujarat on Monday reported 633 fresh covid cases, raising its overall tally to 12,49,117, while no new death was reported, the health department said.

With 731 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, their cumulative count rose to 12,32,544, it said.

The state's Covid death numbers remained unchanged at 10,960, said the department in a release.

The number of active cases now stands at 5,613, of which ten patients are in critical condition, said the release.

1903 fresh cases reported in Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu on Monday recorded 1,903 new Coronavirus positive cases and continued to maintain a slight decline, taking the overall tally to 35,34,246 infections, PTI reported.

The number of active cases too dropped to 15,093 from 15,409 a day ago. On Sunday the State saw 1,945 new infections.

There was no casualty today and the toll remained at 38,032.

A total of 2,219 COVID-19 positive patients were discharged following treatment today and the net recoveries increased to 34,81,121.

West Bengal reports 1094 new Covid cases, 7 fatalities
West Bengal's Covid tally rose to 20,86,483 on Monday as 1,094 more people tested positive for the infection, while seven fresh fatalities pushed the toll to 21,327, a health bulletin said.

The state had recorded 1,817 cases and six deaths on the previous day.

The number of active cases dipped to 22,657 from 24,329 on the previous day as 2,759 people were cured of the disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 20,42,499

Madhya Pradesh logs 227 new Covid cases, 1 death
The Covid tally in Madhya Pradesh reached 10,48,522 on Monday after new 227 cases, while the death numbers increased by one to touch 10,748, an official said, reported PTI.

The positivity rate stood at 3.1 per cent, he added.

The recovery count increased by 179 and reached 10,36,185, leaving the state with 1,589 active cases.

Maharashtra daily Covid cases drop below 1000-mark,
Maharashtra on Monday reported a sharp drop in daily Covid cases at 785 from 2,015 a day ago, while six more patients succumbed to the infection in the state, News agency PTI reported quoting health official.

Mumbai on Monday reported 176 COVID-19 cases, a 26 per cent drop from the 238 recorded a day earlier, and three deaths.

With these additions, the cumulative caseload increased to 80,35,046, while the overall fatality count jumped to 1,48,068, he said.

383 new Covid cases reported in Jammu and Kashmir
Jammu and Kashmir on Monday registered 383 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the infection tally in the Union territory to 4,60,558, PTI reported quoting officials.

146 cases were reported from Jammu division, 237 were from the Kashmir valley.

The death numbers stood at 4,763 with no fresh fatality reported, the officials said.

There are 3,379 active cases of the disease in the Union territory at present, while the number of recoveries has reached 4,52,416.

Nagaland reports 16 fresh COVID-19 cases
Nagaland logs 16 fresh Covid cases, six more than the previous day, taking the tally to 35,709, news agency PTI reported quoting health official on Monday.

The state now has 101 active cases, while 33,342 people have recovered from the disease so far, including seven in the last 24 hours.

A total of 18,53,895 doses of coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the state till Sunday, the official said.

Sikkim logs 50 fresh COVID-19 cases
Sikkim reported 50 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the tally to 41,256, a health department bulletin said on Monday.

The COVID-19 death toll remained at 468 as no fresh fatality was reported, it said.

The daily positivity rate now is 21.27 per cent as 50 new cases were detected out of 235 samples tested.

21 new Covid Cases in Nashik; active tally at 634
With the addition 21 new cases of coronavirus, the tally of infections in Maharashtra's Nashik district rose to 4,79,157 on Monday, an official said to PTI.

As many as 99 patients were discharged during the day, taking the count of recoveries to 4,69,621, while the death numbers remained unchanged at 8,902, he said.

Puducherry sees drop in number of new Covid cases
The union territory of Puducherry logs 88 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours pushing the overall tally to 1,70,170, PTI reported quoting a senior Health department official.

The union territory had reported 162 new cases on Sunday.

The number of active cases stood at 1,231 including 23 patients in hospitals and 1,208 patients in home quarantine.

The official said 151 patients recovered during the last 24 hours while the overall recoveries rose to 1,66,983.

There were no fresh fatalities and the death toll remained at 1,965.

Ladakh reports 19 new Covid cases
Ladakh logs 19 fresh cases of COVID-19, raising its tally to 28,769, news agency PTI reported quoting officials said on Monday.

All the cases were reported from Leh district, they said.

So far, 228 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in Ladakh. Of these, 168 deaths were reported from Leh and 60 from Kargil, the officials said.

Odisha logs 739 fresh Covid cases, 1 death
Odisha's Covid tally raises to 13,07,249 on Monday as 739 more people, including 95 children, tested positive for the infection, while one fresh fatality pushed the toll to 9,133, a health bulletin said.

Odisha reported 1,011 cases and one death on Sunday.

A total of 12,90,663 people have recovered from the disease to date, including 778 in the last 24 hours. 53 patients have died due to Covid comorbidities so far.

10 new COVID-19 cases in Andamans

The COVID-19 tally of Andaman and Nicobar Islands rose to 10,385 on Monday as 10 more people tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said. The Union territory had recorded 12 cases on the previous day. Nine new patients have travel history, while one infection was detected during contact tracing, it said.

The archipelago now has 44 active cases, while 10,212 people have recovered from the disease so far, including 11 in the last 24 hours.

A total of 129 patients have succumbed to the infection to date.

Kerala following Covid protocol, contrary statements by Centre 'unfortunate': Health Minister

Kerala is continuing to strictly follow all COVID-19 protocols and the reporting of monkeypox has not led to any slack in the preventive measures against the pandemic, state Health Minister Veena George said on Monday. Any remarks to the contrary by the Centre were "unfortunate" and political in nature, she said.

The minister said preventive measures, like wearing of face masks, use of sanitisers, washing of hands with soap and maintaining social distancing, were the same for COVID-19 and monkeypox and therefore, there have been no slack in them.

South Korea reports 35,883 new COVID-19 cases

South Korea reported 35,883 new COVID-19 cases as of midnight Sunday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 19,247,496, the health authorities said Monday.
The daily caseload was down from 65,433 on the prior day due to fewer virus tests over the weekend, but it was far higher than 26,279 tallied a week earlier, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA).

Assam adds 113 new COVID-19 cases, one death

Assam reported 113 new COVID-19 cases, which pushed the tally to 7,34,861, according to a bulletin by the National Health Mission (NHM). One more death pushed the toll to 6,667, the bulletin on Monday said.

At least 1,347 patients have died due to other reasons since April, 2020.

Cachar reported 36 fresh cases, followed by 18 in Kamrup Metro, 10 in Dima Hasao, eight in Dibrugarh and six in Biswanath.

The positivity rate marginally decreased to 10.29 per cent as against the previous day's 10.77 per cent. The recovery rate stood at 98.16 per cent.

Mizoram logs 36 new COVID-19 cases

Mizoram on Monday registered 36 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 57.14 per cent, pushing the tally to 2,31,714, an official said. Only 63 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, news agency PTI reported quoting an official. The state had reported 120 cases on Sunday.

Arunachal reports 24 fresh COVID-19 cases, tally at 65,337

The COVID-19 tally in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 65,337 on Monday after 24 more people tested positive for the virus, a senior health department official said. The death toll remained unchanged at 296. The state had reported 82 new infections on Sunday.

Arunachal Pradesh now has 361 active cases, while 64,680 people have recovered from the disease thus far, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Lobsang Jampa said.
