Coronavirus Highlights : India Records 2,202 New Covid Cases

India Covid LIVE Updates: As per the ministry statement, the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,25,76,815.

India COVID-19 Highlights : The weekly positivity rate in the country currently stands at 0.66%.

With 2,202 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India's tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,31,23,801 while the active cases dipped to 17,317, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday.

The death count climbed to 5,24,241 with 27 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprised 0.04 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.74 per cent, the ministry said.

A decrease of 375 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.74 per cent  and weekly positivity rate was recorded at 0.59 per cent, according to the health ministry.

Madhya Pradesh reports 23 new COVID-19 cases

Madhya Pradesh reported 23 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total case tally to 10,41,968. The total death count stood unchanged at 10,735, an official said.

The positivity rate was 0.3 per cent, while the recovery count increased by 31 to 10,30,979. Currently there are 254 active cases in the state. 

A government release said 11,83,01,068 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far in the state, including 6,051 today.

Gujarat reports 33 new COVID cases

Gujarat reported 33 new COVID cases today, which took its tally to 12,24,754, while the death count remained unchanged at 10,944, an official said.

Twenty-five patients recovered from the disease and the number of recoveries rose to 12,13,588, leaving the state with an active caseload of 222.

Ahmedabad reported 26 cases, Gandhinagar and Vadodara 3 cases each, and Surat 1 case.

With 24,086 people getting vaccinated against COVID during the day, the number of doses administered so far in the state went up to 10.84 crore.

There is no active case in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, local officials said.

Tamil Nadu reports 31 new COVID cases

Tamil Nadu today reported 31 new COVID cases, including a person who returned from Canada, taking the total number of infections in the state to 34,54,652. The death count, however, remained unchanged at 38,025 after no COVID-related death was reported, according to a bulletin by the state health department.

Fifty-eight people recovered from the disease, the total recoveries in the state stand at 34,16,295. The number of active cases declined to 332 from 359 a day ago.

Chennai accounted for a maximum of 16 new infections, followed by Chengalpattu with 5, Kancheepuram 3.

Delhi reports 377 new COVID cases, positivity rate stands at 3.77 per cent

Delhi today reported 377 new COVID cases and one more death, while the positivity rate stood at 3.37 per cent, according to data shared by the health department. The overall case tally increased to 1,900,735. The total number of COVID-related deaths stand at 26,196. 

Delhi yesterday reported 613 COVID cases with a positivity rate of 2.74 per cent and three deaths.

Maharashtra reports 129 new COVID cases, zero COVID-related deaths in last 24 hours

Maharashtra today recorded 129 new COVID-19 cases, including 74 in Mumbai, taking the overall case count to 78,80,969. The death count remained unchanged at 147,855 as no new COVID-related death was reported. The case fatality rate stood at 1.87 per cent, according to data by the state health department. 

Yesterday, 255 new cases were reported in the state. 

In last 24 hours, 121 people recovered from the disease. The total number of recoveries stand at 77,31,588 and the recovery rate is currently at 98.10 per cent. There are 1,526 active cases in Maharashtra.

Nashik reports 2 new COVID-19 cases, no COVID-related death in 24 hours

Maharashtra's Nashik reported 2 new COVID cases today, taking the overall caseload in the district to 476,081, according to the health department. No new COVID-related death was reported, with the total count remaining unchanged at 8,899.

The district has 16 active COVD-19 cases, with 3 people recovering in the last 24 hours. The total number of recoveries stand at 467,166.

No fresh COVID cases reported in Andaman and Nicobar Islands in last 7 days

No new COVID case has been reported in Andaman Nicobar Islands in the last 7 days, with total infections remained unchanged at 10,039.

There are currently two active cases in the Union Territory. The total number of recoveries stand at 9,908. A total of 129 COVID-related deaths have been reported.

The administration has tested over 7.3 lakh samples for COVID-19, and fully vaccinated 3.38 lakh people.

Biological E's Corbevax Price Cut To ₹ 250 Per Dose For Private Centres

Pharmaceuticals firm Biological E today said it has reduced the price of its COVID-19 vaccine Corbevax to Rs 250 from Rs 840 a dose, inclusive of GST, for private vaccination centres. Now end users would pay Rs 400 a dose inclusive of taxes and administration charges, the company said in a statement.

Previously, in private vaccination centres the overall cost to end users of the vaccine was Rs 990 a dose, including taxes and administration charges. Read here

The inoculation of children in the age group of 12 to 14 years started in India in March this year.

7 fresh Covid cases in Odisha
Odisha recorded seven fresh coronavirus cases on Monday, while there was no new fatality for the 13th consecutive day, the health department said. There are 132 active COVID-19 cases and 13 more patients have recuperated from the disease, according to a bulletin.

The daily positivity rate was 0.06 per cent and four children were among the newly infected, it said, adding that 12,559 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, a bulletin stated.

The state had logged 14 infections and zero death on Sunday.

Puducherry adds one new case, overall tally stands at 1,65,813

The union territory of Puducherry reported a solitary fresh coronavirus case and zero fatalities in the last 24 hours, a top Health department official said on Monday.

The overall COVID-19 tally in the union territory went up to 1,65,813 following the detection of one new infection after the testing of 25 samples, Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a release here.

The number of active cases stood at 15, he said. One patient recovered during the last 24 hours ending 10 AM on Monday pushing the overall recoveries to 1,63,836. There were no fresh fatalities in any of the four regions of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam during the last 24 hours and the death toll remained at 1,962, the Director said.

Thane logs 31 new COVID-19 cases
Maharashtra's Thane district has reported 31 new cases of coronavirus, raising its infection tally to 7,09,368, an official said on Monday.
These new cases were recorded on Sunday, he said.

There was no fresh fatality and the death toll stood at 11,895, he said, adding that the COVID-19 mortality rate in Thane is 1.67 per cent.

In neighbouring Palghar district, the COVID-19 case count stood at 1,63,612 and the death toll at 3,407, another official said.
