New Delhi:
India logged 2,226 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,31,36,371, while the active cases dipped to 14,955, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.
The death count climbed to 5,24,413 with 65 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.
The active cases comprise 0.03 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.75 per cent, the ministry said.

Jammu and Kashmir records 8 fresh Covid cases
Six of the fresh cases were from Jammu division while two were from Kashmir division.
Eighteen of the total 20 districts in the UT did not report any fresh cases, the officials said.
Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday recorded eight fresh Covid cases, taking the total number of persons infected with the viral disease to 4,54,199 in the Union Territory, officials said.
No death due to the disease was reported in the past 24 hours, they said.
Six of the fresh cases were from Jammu division while two were from Kashmir division.
Eighteen of the total 20 districts in the UT did not report any fresh cases, the officials said.

Chhattisgarh Reports 9 COVID-19 Cases, Zero Deaths
The nine cases, at a positivity rate of 0.82 per cent, comprised seven in Raipur and one each in Kabirdham and Bilaspur, while 16 districts did not have any active case currently, the official added.
The recovery count increased by one to touch 11,38,301, leaving the state with 44 active cases, the official said.
Chhattisgarh on Sunday reported nine COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 11,52,379, while the death toll remained unchanged at 14,034, an official said.
The nine cases, at a positivity rate of 0.82 per cent, comprised seven in Raipur and one each in Kabirdham and Bilaspur, while 16 districts did not have any active case currently, the official added.

Tamil Nadu Reports 43 COVID-19 Cases, Zero Deaths
The number of people who have recuperated from the viral disease rose to 34,16,537 with 36 more people getting discharged in the last 24 hours.
Tamil Nadu currently has 328 active COVID-19 cases, a medical bulletin said here.
Tamil Nadu on Sunday added 43 new COVID-19 infections, pushing the overall caseload to 34,54,890 while the death toll remained unchanged at 38,025 with zero fatalities in the last 24 hours, the health department said.
The number of people who have recuperated from the viral disease rose to 34,16,537 with 36 more people getting discharged in the last 24 hours.

Madhya Pradesh sees 44 COVID-19 cases, no death; active tally stands at 265
The COVID-19 tally in Madhya Pradesh reached 10,42,211 on Sunday after the detection of 44 cases at a positivity rate of 0.6 per cent, while the death toll stood unchanged at 10,735, a health official said.
The recovery count increased by 41 to touch 10,31,211, leaving the state with 265 active cases, the official informed.

Maharashtra Reports 326 COVID-19 Cases
A release from the state health department said 251 patients were discharged during the day, taking the total number of recoveries to 77,33,043 and leaving the state with 1,903 active cases.
With 23,978 samples being examined in the last 24 hours, the overall number of tests in the state went up to 8,07,22,623, he said.
Maharashtra on Sunday reported 326 COVID-19 cases, taking the state's tally to 78,82,802, while the death toll remained at 1,47,856 with no fresh deaths reported, an official said.
A release from the state health department said 251 patients were discharged during the day, taking the total number of recoveries to 77,33,043 and leaving the state with 1,903 active cases.
With 23,978 samples being examined in the last 24 hours, the overall number of tests in the state went up to 8,07,22,623, he said.

SII Seeks Permission For Phase-3 Trial Of Covovax As Booster Dose For Children Aged 2-18 Years
The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) had granted permission in March for conducting Phase-3 clinical trial of Covovax as a booster dose in adults.
The Serum Institute of India (SII) has sought permission from the country's drug regulator to conduct Phase-3 trial to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of its COVID-19 vaccine Covovax as a booster dose in children aged two to 18 years, official sources said on Sunday.
The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) had granted permission in March for conducting Phase-3 clinical trial of Covovax as a booster dose in adults.

Puducherry Reports 2 More COVID-19 Cases
The health department examined 786 samples during the last 24 hours and identified two fresh cases. The active cases were 21 after recovery of two patients.
So far 23,44,075 samples have been examined out of which 18,89,101 were found to be negative, Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a release.
Puducherry added two fresh cases to its COVID-19 tally, which reached 1,65,834 in the last 24 hours ending 10 am on Sunday.

India's COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage Crosses 192.28 Crore
India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 192.28 crore on Sunday morning, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed.
The government data further informed that more than 3.28 crore (3,28,56,669) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
"India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 192.28 crore (1,92,28,66,524) as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This has been achieved through 2,42,06,537 sessions. COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on March 16, 2022," the official data said.

Coronavirus: China's Capital Imposes More Curbs As Covid Outbreak Continues
Reeling under the mismanagement of Xi Jinping's Zero-Covid Policy, parts of Beijing have again come under a lockdown on Sunday, as the pandemic outbreak continues to spread in more and more cities in China.
The authorities have imposed a lockdown in the Haidian district along with Chaoyang, Fengtai, Shunyi, and Fangshan districts, China's Global Times reported citing a statement of the city government's spokesperson, Xu in Hejian.
As per the Chinese media reports, except for restaurants offering delivery services and pharmacies, all indoor entertainment venues, gyms, training institutes, and shopping malls have been closed from today.
All graded scenic points in the capital city will be suspended, and at the same time, all parks should cap visits to 30 per cent of capacity, Global Times reported citing Xu Hejian's statement.

30 new cases in Thane, no death
With the addition of 30 new cases of coronavirus, the infection count in Thane district of Maharashtra has gone up to 7,09,524, news agency PTI said.
These new cases were reported on Saturday, it said.
The death toll in the district remained unchanged at 11,895 and the COVID-19 mortality rate stood at 1.67 per cent, he added.

Bengal reports 32 fresh Covid cases
West Bengal's Covid-19 tally went up to 20,19,058 after 32 more people tested positive for the virus, the health department said on Saturday.
The state had registered 42 new coronavirus cases on Friday.
The toll remained unchanged at 21,203 as no death was reported due to the disease during the day.
