India Covid Highlights: More than 3,500 people also recovered from the coronavirus

New Delhi:

India recorded 3,545 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the coronavirus tally to 4,30,94,938. The country also recorded 27 covid-related fatalities, bringing the total number of deaths to 5,24,002.

According to the Health Ministry, the daily positivity rate stood at 1.07 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was 0.70 per cent.

More than 3,500 people also recovered from the coronavirus, taking the total number of Covid recoveries in the country to 4,25,51,248.

Chhattisgarh today reported nine COVID-19 cases, taking the state's tally to 11,52,305, while the death count remained unchanged at 14,034, an official said. The positivity rate, or cases detected per 100 tests, stood at 0.21 per cent, he added. The state now has 42 active cases, he said. (PTI)

Telangana on Friday saw a rise in new COVID-19 cases with 62 new infections being reported. Hyderabad reported the highest number of cases with 45. A health department bulletin said 30 people recuperated from the infection. No fresh fatality occurred due to coronavirus and the death count continued to be 4,111. COVID-19 India News: Mizoram Reports 31 New Covid Cases
Mizoram today reported 31 fresh COVID-19 cases, the lowest single-day spike in this year, taking the state's tally to 2,27,676, a health official said. The COVID-19 death count remained at 697 as no fresh fatality was reported in the last 24 hours, he said. The single-day positivity rate was 8.49 per cent as the fresh cases were detected from 365 samples tested on Thursday, he said. (PTI)

COVID-19 India News: Jammu And Kashmir Reports 9 New Covid Cases
Jammu and Kashmir recorded nine fresh coronavirus cases on Friday that raised the infection count to 4,54,088 in the Union Territory, officials said. The death count from the pandemic remained unchanged at 4,751 as no new fatality linked to the disease was reported in the past 24 hours, they said. Three of the fresh COVID-19 cases were from Jammu division and six from Kashmir division of the Union Territory, the officials said. (PTI)

COVID-19 India News: Maharashtra Reports 205 New Cases, 117 From Mumbai Alone
Mumbai reported 117 new coronavirus cases today while the daily figure for entire Maharashtra was 205. No new virus-related death was reported from the state. The positivity rate recorded in Mumbai is 1.3%. Currently there are 1,161 active cases in the state, including 706 in Mumbai.

COVID-19 India News: 1,656 New Covid Cases In Delhi; Positivity At 5.39%
Delhi recorded 1,656 COVID-19 cases and zero fatality due to the infection on Friday, while the positivity rate stood at 5.39 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department.
A total of 30,709 tests for the detection of coronavirus were conducted in the city a day before, it stated. With the new cases, the national capital's overall COVID-19 infection tally rose to 18,91,425, while the death count stood at 26,177, the data showed. The national capital had recorded 1,365 COVID-19 cases and zero fatality due to the infection on Thursday, while the positivity rate had stood at 6.35 per cent. (PTI)

Covid News Live: No Covid Death In Delhi Has Gone Uncounted, Says Satyendar Jain
No Covid death in Delhi has gone uncounted, the city's Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Friday, a day after the World Health Organisation estimated that there were 4.7 million deaths from the virus in India. Covid death data given by Delhi to the Centre is completely authentic and correct, Mr Jain said.

"I cannot comment on the data for the entire country or other states but no Covid death in the national capital has gone uncounted," Mr Jain said. "We have counted neither one death more or one death less. Delhi is the capital city of the country and is it possible that someone dies of Covid here and doesn't get a death certificate?" he asked.

Mr Jain went on to say that there has been 100 per cent transparency in data collection and in the counting of mortality figures. (PTI)

Maharashtra's Thane District Reports 23 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours

With the addition of 23 coronavirus positive cases, the infection count in Thane district of Maharashtra mounted to 7,09,132, an official said today.

These cases were reported on Thursday.

As the virus did not claim anybody's life during the day, the death count in the district remained unchanged at 11,893, he said, adding that the COVID-19 mortality rate is 1.67 per cent.

In neighbouring Palghar district, the caseload has grown to 1,63,612, while the number of deaths stand at 3,407, another official said.
