New Delhi: India on Tuesday reported 1,957 new coronavirus infections taking the total number of Covid cases to 4,46,16,394 while the active cases dipped to 27,374 from 28,079, according to the Union Health Ministry.
The country also reported eight new Covid-related deaths, including three in Kerala, bringing the total number of fatalities to 5,28,822.
The active cases comprise 0.06 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid recovery rate increased to 98.75 per cent, the ministry said.

Maharashtra's Thane Records 44 New Covid cases; Active Tally At 356
Maharashtra's Thane district has reported 44 new Covid cases, taking its infection count to 7,45,501, a health official said on Tuesday. There are currently 356 active Covid cases in Thane, which comes under the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, he said. The death count remained unchanged at 11,962, he said.
