Coronavirus Highlights: India Reports Over 1,542 New Cases, 8 Deaths In 24 Hours

The death count remained unchanged at 14,139.

The recovery count rose to 11,62,701 after 77 patients recuperated during the day, leaving the state with 381 active cases, he said.

Raipur led with 13 cases, followed by 6 in Durg, among other districts. No coronavirus cases were reported in 15 of the 28 districts, the official said.

With 4,211 swab samples examined during the day, the tally of coronavirus tests carried out so far in the state went up to 1,87,07,487, he added.

The death count remained unchanged at 10,775.

The recovery count increased by 16 to reach 10,43,704, leaving the state with 112 active cases, he said.

With 2,185 samples examined during the day, the number of coronavirus tests in MP went up to 3,01,03,760, he added.

A government release said 13,32,70,123 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far in the state, including 12,696 on Tuesday.

It took the coronavirus case tally in the city to 11,52,704, and death toll to 19,738, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) said in a release.

On Monday, Mumbai had reported 96 new cases and zero fatalities.

As many as 4,030 coronavirus tests were conducted since Monday evening, taking the total of tests done so far to 1,84,01,341.

A day before, 3,048 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the city.

As many as 129 patients recovered.

The city has a recovery rate of 98.2 per cent.

There are 1,122 active COVID-19 patients in Mumbai now.

Of 128 new COVID-19 cases, only ten were symptomatic, the BMC said.

No new fatality due to the viral disease was reported in the city.

With these new cases, the national capital's Covid case tally has climbed to 20,05,104, while the death count stands at 26,506, the department said in the latest bulletin.

The new cases were detected from 6,906 tests conducted on Monday, it showed.

The national capital on Monday recorded 61 Covid cases with a positivity rate of 3.61 per cent.

The number of active Covid cases in Delhi now stands at 500, the bulletin stated, adding that a total of 315 patients are under home-isolation.

Of the 8,819 beds reserved for Covid patients in various city hospitals, 57 are occupied, it said. There are 48 containment zones in Delhi.

With 370 patients recovering from the infection in the last 24 hours, the count of recoveries reached 79,77,096, the official said.

As per a bulletin from the health department, the state is now left with 2,788 active cases.

Mumbai recorded 128 fresh cases.

Both the fatalities were reported from Nagpur city and district.

Maharashtra's (COVID-19) fatality rate now stands at 1.82 per cent and the recovery rate at 98.14 per cent, the bulletin said.

A total of 14,475 swab samples were tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of tests conducted so far in the state to 79,76,726, it said.

The team of scientists, doctors and senior officials has also recommended increasing surveillance and genome sequencing.

According to the sources, Niti Aayog member VK Paul, the Chairperson of COVID-19 working group NTAGI NK Arora, NTAGI officials, NEGVAC officials and other senior health officials, as per the official sources.

Earlier on Tuesday, Maharashtra recorded a 17.7 per cent rise in coronavirus cases compared to last week, according to a state health department bulletin.

The state has reported new Covid cases including the XBB, a new sub-variant of the Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which has been detected in parts of India, including Kerala.
