New Delhi: India's COVID-19 caseload went past 92 lakh with 44,376 new cases reported in a day, while the number of recoveries surged to 86.42 lakh, the health ministry said on Wednesday. The number of total coronavirus cases rose to 92,22,216 in the country, while the deaths due to the disease climbed to 1,34,699 with 481 new fatalities, the ministry's data updated at 8 am showed.
The active caseload shot up to 4,44,746, an increase of 6,079 cases from Tuesday, even though it remained below five lakh for the 15th consecutive day, accounting for 4.82 per cent of the total cases, the data stated.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 86,42,771, pushing the national recovery rate to 93.72 per cent, while the COVID-19 case fatality rate stands at 1.46 per cent.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), over 13.48 crore samples were tested for COVID-19 up to November 24, including 11,59,032 on Tuesday.

Covid-19: 6,159 new cases in Maharashtra
A total of 6,159 new cases of coronavirus were reported in Maharashtra on Wednesday.
According to the state Health Department, 4,844 recoveries and 65 fatalities due to the COVID-19 were also recorded today.
The total count of cases in the state now stands at 17,95,959 including 84,464 active cases.

COVID-19: Maharashtra reports 6,159 new cases, 65 deaths
Maharashtra on Wednesday reported 6,159 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the count of infections to 17,95,959, the state health department said.
With 65 more people succumbing to the viral infection, the cumulative count in the state mounted to 46,748, it said.
A total of 4,844 patients were discharged after treatment during the day, taking the tally of recovered people to 16,63,723, a health department official said.

Maharashtra Exempts On-Duty Cockpit, Cabin Crew From Mandatory Covid Tests
The Maharashtra government on Wednesday exempted on-duty cockpit and cabin crew members of all airlines from the mandatory RT-PCR test across airports in the state.
The exemption, however, will be subjected to following all necessary COVID-related protocols by the respective airlines, Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar said in an order.
The exemption was granted after the state government received a request from the national carrier Air India in this regard, the order stated.
In its revised standard operating procedures on preventive measures to check the spread of COVID-19 in the state, issued on November 23, the state government made it mandatory for all persons seeking to enter the state from Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Goa to carry RT-PCR negative reports amid the rising number of cases in these states.

Coronavirus: Amid surge in COVID-19 deaths, Delhi govt increases ICU beds in hospitals
Delhi government has increased the number of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) beds in hospitals in view of an increasing number of deaths due to coronavirus.
The maximum number of 232 ICU beds has been added in Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital and 200 ICU beds in Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital of Delhi government, said sources.
According to a government source, more than 9,000 regular beds and over 1,000 ICU beds are available in Delhi for corona patients now.
Delhi reported 6,224 new cases of COVID-19 (out of 61,381 tests), 4,943 recoveries, and 109 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to Delhi Health Department.
