Coronavirus Cases in India: The recovery rate is 95.75 per cent.

India's active coronavirus cases continued to decline with 23,067 fresh COVID-19 infections recorded in the past day with 336 deaths. The country's cumulative Covid case count now stands at 1.01 crore with 1,47,096 deaths. The daily infections were 6.6 per cent lower than yesterday's. With an average of 20,000 cases a day, it took India - world's only other country after US with more than a crore Covid cases. In this period, however, the country has consistently logged more recoveries than new cases taking the number of those being treated for COVID-19 down to 2.81 lakh - almost 3 per cent of the tally.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that the Indian vaccine against COVID-19, Covaxin, has drawn global attention.

In a tweet, the ICMR said, "India's indigenous vaccine against #COVID19 Covaxin-a product of ICMR-Bharat Biotech collaboration, achieves remarkable feat. Data generated from within India underlines impressive safety and immunogenicity profile of Covaxin and sparks Lancet's interest in publishing them."

Turkey's health ministry has registered 15,118 new positive tests for COVID-19 on Saturday, the lowest single-day increase since mid-November.

The latest increase to the case total is a significant decrease from the 17,543 new positive tests registered on Friday and continues a downward trend in new infections after a record 33,198 new cases were confirmed on December 8, ANI reported.

A 101-year-old woman in an elderly care home became the first person in Germany to be inoculated against coronavirus on Saturday, a day before the official vaccination campaign was scheduled to get under way in both Germany and the EU.

Edith Kwoizalla was one of around 40 residents and 10 staff in a care home in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt to receive a jab of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, the home's manager Tobias Krueger told AFP.

Coronavirus LIVE Updates: 2 More UK-Returned Persons Test Positive For COVID-19 In Delhi; Total 21

Two more persons who recently returned to Delhi from the UK, where a super-spreader strain of the coronavirus has been reported, were found to be COVID positive during a door-to-door contact-tracing and testing exercise, officials said on Saturday.

With this, the number of people testing positive for the disease after returning from the UK has gone up to 21 in the national capital. All of them returned from the UK after November 25, PTI reported.

Coronavirus LIVE Updates: Moscow's death count from COVID-19 rises by 77 over past day to 10,840

Moscow has registered 77 deaths of patients infected with COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, bringing the Russian capital's death count to 10,840, the city's coronavirus response center said in a statement on Friday.

"Another 77 patients, who were diagnosed with pneumonia and tested positive for the coronavirus infection, died in Moscow," the center said.

In the previous day, 74 people infected with the coronavirus died in Moscow, ANI reported.

Tamil Nadu reports 1,027 fresh COVID-19 cases
Tamil Nadu on Friday logged 1,027 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 8,12,142 while the
death count mounted to 12,048 with 12 more fatalities.

Of the fresh cases, Chennai reported 289, nearby Chengalpattu andKancheepuram 74 and 38 respectively and the remainder was scatteredacross Tamil Nadu, a health department bulletin said.

Barring one person, all the other 11 victims had co-morbidities.

Four ofthose who died were in their fifties and the others were between 64 and 85 years of age.

7 coronavirus deaths, 1,023 fresh cases in Rajasthan
The Rajasthan health authorities on Friday reported seven coronavirus deaths as 1,023 fresh cases surfaced, taking the number of infections in the state to 3,03,732.

So far, 2,657 people have died from the infection in the state.

According to an official report, deaths were reported from Ajmer, Bundi, Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, Jodhpur, Sawaimadhopur and Udaipur while the maximum fresh cases (168) were reported from Jaipur.

A total of 2,89,375 patients have recovered from the disease so far and the number of active cases is 11,700 in the state.

Surat sees 153 COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths; 146 recover
Surat district in Gujarat recorded 153 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, while two patients
died and 146 people recovered during the day, an official said on Friday.

He said the district's caseload was 48,324, including 1,129 deaths.

"Surat city accounted for 122 of the new cases and 121 of the 146 who were discharged," he said

Gujarat records 910 new coronavirus cases, six deaths
As many as 910 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Gujarat in the last
24 hours, taking the caseload to 2,40,105, the state health department said on Friday evening.

Six patients with viral infection died during this period, taking the death count to 4,268, it said in a release.

On the other hand, 1,114 patients recovered during the day.

With 56,970 tests in the last 24 hours, the total number of tests conducted in the state went up to 93,30,491.

Gujarat COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases 2,40,105, new cases 910, death toll 4,268, discharged 2,25,206, active cases 10,631, people tested so far 93,30,491.

Four more UK returnees test positive for COVID-19
Four more returnees to Tamil Nadu from UK have tested positive for coronavirus and their samples have been sent to the National Institute of Virology, Pune for genomic analysis, a senior official said on Friday.

Of the four returnees, two belonged to Thanjavur and one each from here and Madurai,Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan said.

Along with these four, the total number of people to test positive for the pathogen on arrival from the UK, has increased to five.

The samples of these returnees have been dispatched to the NIV for genomic analysis, he said.
The four arrived in Tamil Nadu between November 28 and December 17 were traced and tested and all the five returnees are doing well in various facilities, he said, adding their contacts have tested negative.

Goa sees 80 COVID-19 cases on Friday, 101 recover
Goa's coronavirus caseload went up by 80 and reached 50,534 on Friday, while 101 people got
discharged, taking the state's recovery count to 48,826, an official said.

The number of people who have died due to the infection is 728, leaving the state with 980 active cases, he added.

With 1,669 more tests conducted in the state in the last 24 hours, the number of samples examined so far rose to 3,89,879.

Haryana records 4 more COVID-19 deaths, 408 new cases
The COVID-19 death count in Haryana rose to 2,858 on Friday with four more fatalities, while 408 new cases pushed the infection tally to 2,60,153, a medical bulletin issued here said.

A fatality each was reported from Faridabad, Yamunanagar, Bhiwani and Jind districts, it said.
Among other districts to report new cases include Gurgaon (81) and Faridabad (61).

The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 4,750 while the recovery rate is 97.08 per cent.

1,005 new COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths in Karnataka
Karnataka added 1,005 new COVID- 19 cases and five related fatalities, taking the infection
count to 9,14,488 and the toll to 12,044, the health department said on Friday.

The day also saw 1,102 patients getting discharged after recovery and there were 13,508 active cases in the state.

The state's cumulative COVID-19 tally stood at 9,14,488, including 12,044 deaths and 8,88,917 discharges, the department said in its bulletin.

A total of 13,300 patients were stable in isolation at designated hospitals, while 208 are in Intensive Care Units.

As many as 578 fresh cases were from Bengaluru Urban district, which also accounted for four of the five deaths, followed by Dharwad 1.

Delhi Records 758 Covid Cases In A Day, Lowest In Over 4 Months
Delhi has recorded 758 fresh COVID-19 cases, the lowest in over four months, and 30 new fatalities even as the positivity rate dipped to 0.88 per cent, authorities said Friday.
