With 12,830 people testing positive for coronavirus infection in a day, India's total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 3,42,73,300, while the active cases declined to 1,59,272, the lowest in 247 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated. The death count climbed to 4,58,186 with 446 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.
The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 23 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 126 consecutive days now. The active cases comprise 0.46 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.20 per cent, the ministry said.
A decline of 2,283 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,36,55,842, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.34 per cent. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.13 per cent.
It has been less than two per cent for last 27 days. The weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 1.18 per cent. It has been below two per cent for the last 37 days, according to the ministry.
The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 106.14 crore.

Assam on Sunday reported 212 fresh COVID-19 cases, 71 less than the previous day, with the caseload in the northeastern state rising to 6,10,645, a National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin said.
The death count rose to 5,997 as one more person from Nagaon succumbed to the disease, it said.
Punjab on Sunday reported 26 fresh COVID-19 cases, which took the infection tally to 6,02,401 in the state, according to a medical bulletin.
With one Covid-related death reported from Hoshiarpur, the count reached 16,559, it said.
Haryana's Covid tally rose to 7,71,252 with 11 new cases on Sunday, while the death count remained at 10,049 as no new fatality was reported, according to a medical bulletin.
Of the fresh cases, seven infections were reported from Gurgaon, among others.
Jammu and Kashmir recorded 95 fresh Covid cases, taking the infection tally to 3,32,249 while no new death due to the virus was reported from the Union Territory in the 24 hours ending at 5 pm on Sunday, officials said.
Out of the 95 fresh cases, six were from the Jammu division and 89 from the Kashmir division, they said.
Andhra Pradesh on Sunday recorded 385 new daily COVID-19 cases, taking the total infection count to 20,66,450, while the toll rose to 14,373 with four additional deaths.
With 675 people getting cured, total recoveries stood at 20.47 lakh, leaving 4,355 active cases.
Sikkim's COVID-19 caseload rose to 31,979 on Sunday after 22 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours, 12 more than the previous day, a health department bulletin said.
The death count increased to 396 as one more person succumbed to the infection, it said.
The national capital on Sunday reported 45 new COVID-19 cases, while the positivity rate stood at 0.08 per cent, according to data shared by the health department.
No fresh deaths were recorded.
Delhi has recorded only four deaths due to COVID-19 in October. Last month, five people had succumbed to the viral disease.
With the new infections, Delhi's coronavirus caseload climbed to 14,39,870. So far, over 14.14 lakh patients have recovered, the bulletin said.
