India Covid-19 Cases: India's active caseload currently stands at 11,08,938.

New Delhi:

India reported 83,876 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours, while the positivity rate dropped marginally to 7.25%. This is the first time since January 6 that India's daily Covid tally did not cross the 1-lakh mark.

The active cases comprise 2.62 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has improved to 96.19 per cent, the ministry said.

The positivity rate was recorded at 7.25 per cent. Positivity rate is the number of people that test positive for Covid out of every hundred tests conducted.

The Drugs Controller General of India yesterday granted emergency-use approval to the single-show Sputnik Light vaccine. This is the 9th Covid vaccine approved in India.

169.5 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have so far been administered in the country, the health ministry said on Sunday.

COVID-19 India News: Haryana Reports 1,231 New Cases, 21 More Deaths
Twenty-one more Covid deaths were reported in Haryana on Monday as 1,231 fresh cases surfaced, pushing the state's infection count to 9,66,094, according to a Health Department bulletin. So far, 10,416 people have died from the infection in the state. Gurugram district reported 478 fresh cases while 126 and 114 infections were from Yamunanagar and Faridabad, respectively. Seven people died in Sonipat and three in Hisar districts, as per the bulletin. (PTI)

COVID-19 India News: Assam Reports 557 New Cases, 10 More Deaths
Assam on Monday registered an over two-fold increase in fresh COVID-19 cases in a day, as 557 more people tested positive for the infection, the National Health Mission (NHM) said. It said in a bulletin that 10 more people died due to the virus during the day. The state's positivity rate decreased to 1.55 per cent as 35,952 samples were tested for COVID-19. Kamrup Metropolitan district, which primarily comprises Guwahati city, reported 116 fresh cases, four more than the previous day's figure. In Assam, 7,06,931 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered. COVID-19 India News: Gujarat Reports 2,909 New Cases, 959 From Ahmedabad
Gujarat today reported 2,909 fresh coronavirus cases and 21 deaths due to the infection, taking the tally to 12,03,150 and the total death count to 10,688, the state health department said. The state is now left with 38,644 active cases, the department said, adding that 215 patients are in critical condition. Ahmedabad district reported 959 new cases, Vadodara 603, Rajkot 185, and Gandhinagar 161. (PTI)

COVID-19 India News: Tamil Nadu Reports 5,104 New Cases, 839 From Chennai
Tamil Nadu continued to record a decline in fresh coronavirus cases, registering 5,104 new infections on Monday, taking the caseload to 34,15,986, while the death count went up to 37,772 with the addition of 13 more deaths. The total active cases as of today further decreased to 1,05,892 from 1,21,828 yesterday. Fresh Coronavirus cases fell further in the districts and Chennai with 839 cases and Coimbatore 807 saw the maximum number of cases. (PTI)

COVID-19 India News: Schools Reopen In Bihar With Full Capacity For Classes 9-12
Schools reopened for offline classes for Classes 9 to 12 with full capacity across Bihar on Monday in the wake of the decline in COVID-19 cases in the state, officials said. Physical classes resumed with 50% attendance up to Class 8 and strict adherence to COVID-19 standard operating guidelines issued by the State Disaster Management Authority in all schools of the state, they said. COVID-19 India News: Cumulative Vaccine Doses Given In India Crosses 170 Crore
The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country crossed 170 crore landmark on Monday, the Union Health Ministry said. Over 50 lakh (50,48,778) vaccine doses were given till 7 pm on Monday. More than 1.52 crore (1,52,95,149) precaution doses have been administered to healthcare workers, frontline workers and those aged 60 and above with comorbidities. (PTI)

COVID-19 India News: J&K Reports 686 New Cases, 6 More Deaths
Jammu and Kashmir on Monday reported 686 new Covid cases, dipping below the 1,000-mark in the last four weeks and taking tally of infected people to 4,47,334, officials said. The union territory also reported six deaths due to the virus in the past 24 hours, they added. Out of the fresh cases, 312 were reported from the Jammu division and 374 from Kashmir, the officials said. There are 14,924 active cases in the union territory at present while the number of cured patients was 4,24,521, the officials said. The death count due to the pandemic rose to 4,721 after six fresh deaths were reported in the past 24 hours. (PTI)

COVID-19 India News: Telangana Reports 1,380 New Cases; 350 In Hyderabad
The number of recoveries continued to eclipse new COVID-19 cases in Telangana today with 3,877 people recuperating from the disease, as the state recorded 1,380 new cases taking the total tally to 7,78,910. The cumulative number of recoveries till date was 7,50,809, a health department bulletin said. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) reported the highest number of new cases with 350, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (105) and Ranga Reddy (69) districts. The death count increased to 4,101 with one more fatality. Active cases stood at 24,000, the bulletin said. (PTI)

COVID-19 India News: Tripura Reports 13 New Cases, 2 More Deaths
Tripura's total Covid-19 cases increased to 1,00,663 after 13 more people tested positive for the virus on Monday, a senior health department official said. The state had reported the same number of fresh infections and no Covid deaths on Sunday. It, however, registered two fresh deaths on Monday, taking the death count to 915. The state's positivity rate has dipped to 0.91 per cent on Monday from 1.29 per cent the previous day, said Dr Deep Debbarma, the state surveillance officer. Tripura currently has 748 active cases, while 98,932 Covid patients have recovered so far. (PTI)

COVID-19 India News: Madhya Pradesh Reports 3,945 New Cases, 2 More Deaths
The COVID-19 tally in Madhya Pradesh reached 10,09,698 on Monday after the detection of 3,945 cases, while the death count increased to 10,664 with two more deaths reported in the last 24 hours, a health department official said. The positivity rate, or cases detected per 100 tests, dipped to 5.5 per cent on Monday from 6.7 per cent on the previous day, he said. The recovery count stood at 9,58,443 after 8,130 people were discharged during the day, leaving the state with an active tally of 40,591, the official said. (PTI)

COVID-19 News: Kerala Sees Drop In New Cases, Records 22,524 Fresh Infections
Daily COVID-19 cases in Kerala dropped further today with the state recording 22,524 fresh cases which raised the total tally to 62,93,907. The state had reported 26,729 COVID-19 cases on Sunday. Today the state also reported 860 deaths that raised the death count to 59,115, according to a government release. With 49,586 more people recovering from the virus since Sunday, the total recoveries reached 59,32,609. As the number of recoveries were more than the new COVID-19 cases, the active cases in the state went down to 3,01,424, the release said. (PTI)

COVID-19 India News: Sikkim Reports 33 New Cases, One More Death
Sikkim on Monday reported 33 new COVID-19 cases, which pushed the tally to 38,709, the health department said in its bulletin. Sikkim's death count rose to 436 as a patient died due to the infection in last 24 hours. The state currently has 539 active cases, according to the bulletin. Altogether 37,005 people have recovered from the disease, while 729 others have migrated out. The daily positivity rate stood at 3.6 per cent and the daily recovery rate at 97.4 per cent. (PTI)

COVID-19 India News: Rajasthan Reports 2,298 New Cases, 12 More Deaths
Twelve more people died due to COVID-19 in Rajasthan, raising the death count to 9,391, while 2,298 fresh infections were reported on Monday, official data showed. According to Health Department data, 7,299 more people recovered from the infection, while the count of active COVID-19 cases stands at 40,880 in the state. Daily COVID-19 infections in Karnataka declined to 6,151 on Monday, taking the total positive cases to 39,02,309, according to the health department. Andhra Pradesh reported 1,597 fresh cases of Covid-19, 8,766 recoveries and eight deaths in the 24 hours ending 9 am on Monday. The state Covid-19 chart now showed a total of 23,05,052 positives, 22,27,985 recoveries and 14,672 deaths, according to the latest bulletin. The active caseload decreased to 62,395 it said. COVID-19 India News: Odisha Reports 1,497 New Cases, 20 More Deaths
Odisha recorded 20 more COVID-19 deaths today, while 1,497 people tested positive for the pathogen, the Health Department said. The daily positivity rate dropped to 3.18 per cent from 3.48 per cent the previous day, a bulletin stated. Bhubaneswar reported five new deaths, it said. The COVID-19 death count mounted to 8,754 and these are confirmed as deaths to the disease after an audit. COVID-19 India News: Schools For Classes 1-9 Reopen In Gujarat
Schools reopened for offline sessions for classes 1 to 9 across Gujarat on Monday in the wake of a decline in COVID-19 cases in the state. The physical sessions for classes 1 to 9 were suspended on January 8 in view of the then rising COVID-19 cases in the state, but schools for classes 10 to12 and colleges were not closed. On Monday, schools reopened across the state with students appearing happy and excited to be back to their classrooms. They were seen wearing face masks and adhering to other COVID-19 guidelines. Parents were required to submit consent letters for sending their children to schools. (PTI)
