New Delhi:
India reported 11,451 fresh COVID-19 cases, 13,204 recoveries and 266 deaths in the last 24 hours, informed the Union Health Ministry. Out of that, Kerala reported 7,124 cases, 7,488 recoveries, and 21 deaths. Active cases account for 0.42 per cent of total cases which is the lowest since March 2020.
India's active caseload currently stands at 1,42,826, the lowest in 262 days.
The recovery rate stands at 98.24 per cent which is the highest since March 2020.

Denmark brings Covid curbs back after just two months
Denmark will re-introduce a health pass because of a sharp rise in Covid-19 infections, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said Monday, less than two months after scrapping controls.
The Epidemic Commission has recommended the government classify the coronavirus as a "socially threatening disease" and re-impose the pass, Frederiksen told journalists.
"The government will follow this recommendation."
Frederiksen acknowledged that the return of the pass would make life more difficult for those who were not vaccinated, but added: "That's how I think it should be."
In Denmark, with a population of 5.8 million, 85.9 percent of people over the age of 12 have been fully vaccinated.

EU says face masks don't pose health risks after report raises concerns
EU authorities say there is no conclusive evidence of a cancer risk from synthetic face masks and have urged people to keep wearing them after a Belgian study warned last month they may contain carcinogens.
Face masks are widely considered crucial tools to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and have become an everyday item for a large part of the world's population through the pandemic.
A report in October by Belgium's public health body Sciensano said it had found titanium dioxide (TiO2), a potentially hazardous substance, in the synthetic face masks it examined, including commonly worn models.

French schoolchildren mask up again as Covid cases rise
Schoolchildren in large parts of France were ordered Monday to again wear face masks in class, less than a month after being allowed to remove them, as the country tries to tamp down a surge in Covid cases.
Primary schools in 40 of France's 101 departments or administrative areas, which had been mask-free for weeks, are affected by the order, which comes a day before President Emmanuel Macron addresses the nation about the health crisis.
Under the government's Covid protocol, primary school pupils have to wear masks when the incidence rate rises above 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants over five consecutive days. With nearly 75 percent of the population inoculated against the coronavirus, France is one of Europe's vaccine leaders.

Philippines logs 2,087 new COVID-19 cases, 91 more deaths
The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) reported 2,087 new COVID-19 infections on Monday, pushing the number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 2,805,294.
It is reported that 91 more people died from COVID-19 complications, bringing the national death toll to 44,521. The active cases or the number of people still fighting the deadly disease dropped further to 32,077.
Except for two regions in the northern Philippines, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the rest of the country's regions, including Metro Manila, showed "negative two-week growth rates" of infections.

Most of Russia on Monday ended a week-long paid holiday aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus, despite the country seeing thousands of new cases and more than 1,000 deaths per day.
President Vladimir Putin ordered the paid holiday period from October 30 to November 7 in a bid to stem soaring infections and deaths exacerbated by a slow vaccination drive. Individual regions had the authority to extend the period but as of Monday only five had done so, including the western region of Bryansk and the Siberian region of Tomsk.
A number of regions did however introduce or extend a requirement for proof of vaccination to visit restaurants, cafes and shopping centres. Moscow, the epicentre of the pandemic in Russia, still does not require proof of vaccination for most public activities.

China's Heihe urges residents to suspend shopping in COVID-19 hit regions
Local authorities in several districts in the Chinese city of Heihe located on the border with Russia have called on residents to temporarily suspend the purchase of goods from the regions where COVID-19 infections are on the rise, Sputnik reported.
The decision was made after the COVID-19 was detected on the packages of goods purchased by residents of Erenhot city in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The local authorities urged residents not to order anything from abroad yet, so as not to put the employees of logistics companies and themselves at risk of contracting the virus, Russian News agency reported.
According to the agency, logistics and courier companies are ordered to seal up goods already received from abroad and place them in a specially designated area, after which they should report to the local epidemic prevention and control authorities.

New tough measures against COVID-19 enforced in Slovenia
More restrictive measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic came into force in Slovenia on Monday. From November 8, clubs and similar establishments are prohibited to operate. All sports and religious events are allowed only in the spaces with fixed seating. Wearing masks is mandatory. All participants must comply with the recovered/vaccinated/tested rule.
The possession of COVID-19 certificates is now mandatory for all citizens over 12 years old, instead of 15, as it was before. Bars, cafes and restaurants are allowed to operate from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Each visitor must be provided with the ability to keep distance of 10 square meters (107 square feet). The maximum number of visitors must be displayed at the entrance to the hospitality establishments.

COVID-19: Puducherry logs 24 fresh cases, tally goes up to 1,28,224
The union territory of Puducherry added 24 new coronavirus cases taking the overall tally to 1,28,224, a senior Health department official said. The Puducherry and Karaikal regions alone reported fresh cases during the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Monday while Mahe and Yanam did not register any.
Puducherry clocked 20 new infections and Karaikal added four, the Director of Health Department G Sriramulu said. The 20 cases were identified after the examination of 1,806 samples.

China posts first decline in local new COVID-19 cases this week
China reported on Thursday a decline in locally transmitted COVID-19 cases for the first time this week, and a health official said he expected China's latest outbreak, caused mainly by the Delta variant, to be largely under control within weeks. No fresh COVID-19 cases reported in Arunachal Pradesh
Arunachal Pradesh did not report any fresh COVID-19 case in the last 24 hours, while 11 more persons recuperated from the disease, pushing the total number of recoveries to 54,851, a senior health official said.
The COVID-19 tally in the frontier state remained at 55,180, he said. The state now has 49 active COVID-19 cases, the official said. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state marginally improved to 99.40 per cent from 99.38 the previous day, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.
The coronavirus death toll remained at 280 as no fresh fatality was reported in the last 24 hours, the SSO said. Tawang district has the highest number of active cases at 10, followed by West Kameng and Lower Dibang Valley at eight cases each and East Siang at 6 cases.

4 new cases take COVID-19 tally of Andamans to 7,664
Andaman and Nicobar Islands reported four new COVID-19 cases, three more than the previous day, with the tally in the Union Territory rising to 7,664, a health department official said on Monday.
The fresh cases were detected during contact tracing, he said.
The death toll remained at 129 as no new fatality due to the infection was recorded in the last 24 hours, the official said.
Three persons were cured of the disease during the period, taking the total number of recoveries in the archipelago to 7,523.
The Union Territory now has 12 active cases.

Maharashtra coronavirus update: Thane logs 118 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death
Thane has added 118 new cases of coronavirus, taking the infection count in the Maharashtra district to 5,66,749, an official said on Monday. These new cases were reported on Sunday, he said.
The virus also claimed the life of one more person, which raised the death toll in the district to 11,543, he said, adding that the COVID-19 mortality rate in Thane is 2.03 per cent. In neighbouring Palghar district, the COVID-19 case count has gone up to 1,38,164, while the death toll stands at 3,289, another official said.

Chinese mainland reports 89 cases of COVID-19
At least 89 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the Chinese mainland on Sunday, the National Health Commission (NHC) of the People's Republic of China informed. According to NHC, 65 cases were linked to local transmissions and 24 from overseas.
In addition, 46 new asymptomatic cases were recorded, while 456 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation, reported CGNT.
