India Coronavirus Cases: The number of COVID-19 cases in India has been rising.

India has recorded the highest single-day jump so far of 11,458 fresh cases, pushing the total number of cases to 3,08,993, the latest data from the Union Health Ministry shows. India now is ranked fourth in the world in terms of coronavirus cases, after the US, Brazil and Russia.

The government today added loss of smell or taste to the list of COVID-19 symptoms.

The Union Health Ministry listed muscle pain, diarrhea, congested nasal cavity, sputum production as COVID-19 symptoms, besides fever, cough, fatigue, sore throat and shortness of breath.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with ministers and officials today to review the country's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the government said in a statement. They discussed the situation in the states and Union Territories, including Delhi, where coronavirus cases have been rising.

Coronavirus news: Uttarakhand's COVID-19 tally reaches 1,785
Uttarakhand on Saturday reported 26 new COVID-19 cases, taking the state count of coronavirus cases to 1,785, said the health department.

"26 more COVID-19 cases reported in Uttarakhand today, as of 9 pm. The total number of cases in the state is now at 1785, including 1,077 discharged," said State Health Department.

The total number of deaths in the state due to the virus has reached 23, reported news agency ANI.

COVID-19: Delhi high court functioning restricted till June 30 due to COVID-19
The Delhi High Court on Saturday further restricted its functioning along with subordinate courts under its jurisdiction till June 30 in view of the situation created by COVID-19.

According to HC, hearings of urgent matters via video conferencing will continue as earlier.

Earlier in the day, the Delhi High Court inaugurated the e-filing facility allowing advocates and litigants the liberty to file applications, documents, replies and a rejoinder from anywhere and anytime online.

Coronavirus news: 503 new COVID-19 cases in Uttar Pradesh
A total of 503 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday taking the total number of cases to 13,118.

"Uttar Pradesh's COVID-19 count reaches 13,118 with 503 new cases reported today. Active cases stand at 4,858, death toll is 385," state Health Department said.

It said a total of 266 patients recovered today taking the total recovered cases to 7,875, reported news agency ANI.

Coronavirus news: Rs 1,000 credited into bank accounts of over 10.4 lakh migrant workers in UP
The Uttar Pradesh government has transferred Rs 1,000 in the bank accounts of over 10.4 lakh migrant workers who have recently returned to the state.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the maintenance allowance being given by his dispensation to migrant workers returning to the state has given a new direction to the public welfare schemes, reported news agency PTI.

He said migrant workers coming from other states are being safely taken to quarantine centres and proper arrangements have been made for their food and medical screening there.

"All these workers have a very big role in nation-building. They have set a good example in front of society through their labour," he said.

Coronavirus news: Punjab to fix charges for treatment of COVID-19 patients in private hospitals
Taking note of reports that some private hospitals in Punjab were charging exorbitant amount from COVID-19 patients, the state government will soon fix charges for treatment, Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said on Saturday.

The minister pointed out that most of the COVID-19 patients do not need any special treatment. They only need to be kept under observation, served food and medicines, he said, reported news agency PTI.

He warned private hospitals overcharging coronavirus patients of stringent action and said that the government reserves the right to withdraw the land provided to hospitals at highly concessional rates.

"The Punjab government will soon fix the charges for COVID treatment in the interest of both patients and private hospitals," Sidhu was quoted as saying in a statement.

A total of 85 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported in Kerala on Saturday, taking the tally of active cases to 1,342, the state health department said.

Coronavirus news: Tamil Nadu's COVID-19 tally soars to 42,687
Tamil Nadu on Saturday recorded the highest single-day spike in its COVID-19 tally with 1,989 positive cases, taking the total number of cases in the state to 42,687, said the state Health Department.

The death figure now stands at 397 with 30 new fatalities reported on Saturday.

There are 18,878 active cases in the state, while 23,409 have been discharged from the hospital.

Coronavirus news: Haryana reports 8 more COVID-19 deaths, 6 of them from Gurgaon
Haryana reported eight more coronavirus deaths on Saturday, six of them from the hardest-hit Gurgaon district, where total infections crossed the 3,000-mark while the state's virus count rose to 6,749 with 415 fresh cases.

Of the fresh COVID-19 cases, a maximum of 203 was reported from Gurgaon, which now has 3,125 cumulative cases, 1,897 of which are active, according to the state health department's daily bulletin.

With six more coronavirus-related fatalities, the deaths in Gurgaon rose to 25 while the remaining two new deaths were reported from Faridabad, which is also among the districts worst affected by the pandemic, reported news agency PTI.

The COVID-19 deaths in Faridabad now stand at 28.

Ten of the 15 novel coronavirus patients, who are currently on ventilator support in various hospitals in Haryana, are in Gurgaon district.

Coronavirus news: Religious places in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal to open from June 15
Places of worship in Bhopal are set to open from June 15, the district collector said on Saturday. However, religious places falling in the ''containment zone'' will continue to remain close.

"All religious places except the containment zone will open in Bhopal from June 15. Touching idol/religious scripture will not be allowed. It will be compulsory to follow 6-feet social distancing," Bhopal Collector Tarun Kumar Pithode said.

On June 8, the religious places across the country were thrown open for public after two months of lockdown.

Coronavirus news" Gujarat COVID-19 cases cross 23,000 mark; 33 more die
With 517 new COVID-19 cases being reported in Gujarat on Saturday, the overall case count has mounted to 23,079, state Health department said.

With 33 more people succumbing to the viral infection, the number of fatalities has risen to 1,449, it said.

A total of 390 patients were discharged from hospitals in the day, taking the number of recovered cases to 15,891, an official release said.

Coronavirus news: Tripura COVID-19 count surpasses 1,000
The COVID-19 tally in Tripura crossed the 1000-mark as 37 people tested positive for the infection on Saturday, taking the total number of cases to 1,001, officials said.

A total of 210 samples were tested in the day and the results of 37 of them came out positive, they said.

Of the fresh cases, 34 were from Sepahijala district and three from Gomati district and all of them had a recent travel history, the officials said.

"Out of 210 samples tested for COVID19, 37 Cases found positive. All of them have travel history," Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb tweeted on Saturday.

Coronavirus news: 344 new coronavirus cases, 26 deaths in Gujarat's Ahmedabad district
344 new coronavirus patients were reported in Ahmedabad on Saturday, taking the number of cases in the district to 16,306, the Gujarat health department said.

Twenty-six patients died during the day, taking the number of coronavirus deaths in the district to 1,165. 255 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals, reported news agency PTI quoting officials.

Coronavirus news: India's COVID-19 recovery rate now 49.95%, over 1.5 lakh patients cured
The COVID-19 recovery rate in the country is currently at 49.95 per cent with a total of 1,54,329 patients getting cured of the disease till Saturday, according to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

As many as 7,135 patients infected with the virus have been cured in the past 24 hours in the country, the Ministry said.

The testing capacity has also been ramped up significantly and currently, a total of 885 labs, including 642 government and 243 private, are carrying out tests for COVID-19.

"In the last 24 hours, 1,43,737 samples were tested for the virus. The total number of samples tested so far stands at 55,07,182," the MoHFW said.

Coronavirus news: 25 new COVID-19 cases in Assam, state count at 3,718
Twenty-five new coronavirus cases were recorded in Assam on Saturday, pushing the total count to 3,718, the state health department said.

According to the data, the total COVID-19 cases include 1,584 recoveries, eight deaths and 2,123 active cases, reported news agency ANI.

"Total of 25 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Assam, taking the total number of cases to 3,718 including 1,584 recoveries and eight deaths. The number of active cases stands at 2,123," the health department stated.

Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Hojai district has the highest number of cases while over 1,73,493 people have returned to Assam during the lockdown.

Coronavirus news: Private flights from Middle East to carry only non-COVID passengers from June 20, says Kerala government
All private chartered flights departing to Kerala from Middle East countries shall only carry COVID-19 negative passengers from June 20, state principal secretary Dr K Elangovan said on Saturday.

"From June 20, all private chartered flights departing to Kerala from Middle East countries shall only carry coronavirus negative passengers. Test certificate must be carried by them. It applies to all flights for which consent letters were issued earlier," Mr Elangovan said.

Meanwhile, the third phase of the Vande Bharat mission, the central government's initiative to bring home Indian nationals stranded in various parts of the world due to the coronavirus-induced restrictions over air travel, began on June 11 and will continue till June 30.

Coronavirus news: 35 new COVID-19 cases in Uttarakhand take state tally to 1,759
Uttarakhand on Saturday reported 35 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total positive cases to 1,759, said the state health department.

The total COVID-19 cases include 707 active cases and 1,023 recoveries. As many as 21 people have succumbed to the infection in the state so far, reported news agency ANI.
