India reported 18,166 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest single-day rise in nearly seven months. The country also reported 214 deaths due to coronavirus. The active COVID-19 cases in India comprise 0.68 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020 -- the active caseload at present is 2,30,971, lowest in 208 days.
The national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.99 per cent, highest since March 2020. At least 23,624 recoveries in the last 24 hours took the total number of recoveries to 3,32,71,915 in India. The daily positivity rate - number of positive cases identified per 100 - stands at 1.42 per cent, less than 3 per cent for last 41 days.
India's cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 94.70 crore.

Kerala reports 10,691 new COVID-19 cases, 85 deaths
Kerala reported a total of 10,691 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the health bulletin issued by the State Health Department on Sunday.
According to the department, 12,655 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 46,56,866.
With 85 more deaths, the death tally in the state has mounted to 26,258.

Tamil Nadu reports 1,329 new COVID-19 cases, 15 deaths
Tamil Nadu reported 1,329 fresh COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, the state health bulletin said on Sunday.
With this, the total cases of this virus rose to 26,78,265 including 16,130 active cases.
However, the deaths touched 35,783 in the state with 15 fatalities in the last 24 hours.
The total recoveries are at 26,26,352 including 1,436 people getting discharged from Coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

Assam logs 160 new COVID-19 cases, 5 fresh fatalities
Assam's COVID-19 tally rose to 6,04,969 on Sunday as 160 more people tested positive for the infection, while five fresh fatalities pushed the state's coronavirus deaths to 5,926, a health bulletin said.
Kamrup Metropolitan district registered the highest number of new cases at 60, followed by Jorhat (21), Lakhimpur (12), and Nagaon (10).
Two persons died of the infection in Sonitpur and one fresh fatality each was recorded in Barpeta, Jorhat, and Lakhimpur districts.
The state now has 2,605 active cases, while 5,95,091 people have recovered from the disease so far, including 240 in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate stood at 98.37 per cent.
Assam has tested over 2.39 crore samples for COVID-19 thus far, including 24,900 in the last 24 hours.

Bengal logs 760 fresh COVID-19 cases, 11 more fatalities
West Bengal's COVID-19 tally rose to 15,76,337 on Sunday, as 760 more people tested positive for the virus, while 11 fresh fatalities pushed the deaths to 18,905, a health bulletin said.
The state now has 7,649 active cases, and 15,49,783 people have recovered from the disease so far, including 734 since Saturday, it said.
West Bengal has tested a total of 1,85,07,359 samples for COVID-19 thus far.
Altogether, 6.41 crore people have been vaccinated in the state, officials said.

Coronavirus: Chhattisgarh sees 19 new cases, zero death
Chhattisgarh's COVID-19 case tally rose to 10,05,530 as 19 people tested positive for the viral infection on Sunday, a health department official said.
Since no fresh fatality due to the virus was reported in the state during the day, the count remained unchanged at 13,570.
The recovery count in the sate rose to 9,91,755 after nine patients were discharged from hospitals while 20 others completed their home isolation on Sunday.
There are 205 active cases of COVID-19 in the state at present.

Over 94 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in India so far
India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage crossed the landmark of 94 crores, with 66,85,415 vaccine doses administered in the last 24 hours, the Union Minister informed.
According to the provisional reports issued by the ministry at 7 am on Sunday, India has so far administered 94,70,10,175 COVID-19 vaccines.
This has been achieved through 92,12,314 sessions.

New Zealand reports 61 new cases of COVID-19 Delta variant
New Zealand reported 61 new cases of COVID-19 Delta variant, said the Ministry of Health in a statement.
Of the 61 new cases of COVID-19 reported, 60 were community cases in Auckland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty, and one were imported cases at the border, said the Ministry.
The total case number of COVID-19 in the current Delta variant outbreak in New Zealand community reached 1,587 including 1,538 in Auckland, 31 in Waikato, 17 in Wellington, and one in Bay of Plenty.

Malaysia lifts travel restrictions for fully-vaccinated people
Malaysians who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will be allowed to resume domestic and overseas travel from Monday, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

More than 10.5 lakh vaccine doses given in Puducherry so far
More than 10.5 lakh vaccine doses have been administered to people in Puducherry so far, the territorial government said, as 76 COVID-19 cases were recorded in the last 24 hours.
Director of Health G. Sriramulu said 7,06,144 people received the first dose, while 3,45,091 got the second jab.
He said Puducherry and its outlying regions of Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam added 76 new cases in the last 24 hours ending 10 am today, taking the overall tally to 1,27,053.

3 new COVID-19 cases push Andamans tally to 7,632
Three new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Andaman and Nicobar Islands pushing the tally in the union territory to 7,632, a health department official said.
Of the three new cases, one was detected during testing at the Veer Savarkar Airport here and the other two during contact tracing, he said

Active COVID-19 cases in country lowest in 208 days
India logged 18,166 new coronavirus infections taking the country's total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,39,53,475, while the active cases declined to 2,30,971, the lowest in 208 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.
The death toll climbed to 4,50,589 with 214 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.
The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 30,000 for 16 straight days.

Malaysia reports 8,743 new COVID-19 infections, 74 new deaths
Malaysia reported another 8,743 new COVID-19 infections, as of midnight Saturday, bringing the national total to 2,332,221, according to the health ministry.
Some 14 of the new cases are imported and 8,729 are local transmissions, data released on the ministry's website showed. Another 74 more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 27,265.
About 14,422 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 2,184,710.

Thousands protest in Rome against Covid health pass
Thousands of protesters including members of far-right groups demonstrated in central Rome on Saturday against the extension of the COVID-19 health pass system to all workplaces.
There were scuffles with police as the demonstrators took aim at the health pass, which has been a requirement to enter museums, sporting events and restaurants since August. Although the march was authorised, several hundred people broke off from the main column and tried to march on parliament.
Police used water cannon and tear gas to stop them, arresting several protesters during clashes, the AGI news agency reported.

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari has urged Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to allow the devotees to celebrate Chhath Puja while following COVID-19 protocols and said he will not accept a complete ban. Mr Tiwari interacted with people from the Purvanchali community on the matter of Chhath Puja during his ''Chhath Yatra'' at the Yamuna Ghat in the Sonia Vihar area of Delhi.
"I urge CM Kejriwal to shed his adamancy and allow devotees to celebrate Chhath Puja while following the COVID-19 protocols. We are ready to follow every protocol, be it social distancing, mask, sanitisation or vaccination. We are not going to accept a complete ban," Mr Tiwari said.

Uttarakhand directs officials to ensure adherence to Covid-19 protocols in schools
The Uttarakhand government on Saturday directs officials to strictly ensure that Covid-19 protocols are being followed in the schools in the state after a student in the Gopeshwar area of Chamoli district tested positive for the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, 3,43,645 Covid-19 cases have been reported in the state so far including 166 active cases. Also, 1,06,82,064 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the state so far.
7,396 people have died due to the virus in the state.

Delhi records 30 fresh COVID-19 cases, positivity rate 0.05%
Delhi on Saturday recorded 30 fresh COVID-19 cases, while the positivity rate stood at 0.05 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department.
No fresh deaths were reported in the national capital, the health department bulletin stated.
According to official data, only one death due to coronavirus infection has been recorded so far this month. Last month, five deaths were recorded.
With the 30 fresh cases, Delhi's infection tally increased to 14,39,166. The deaths stand at 25,088, the bulletin stated.
On Friday, the national capital had recorded 39 cases with a positivity rate of 0.06 per cent.
