New cases of coronavirus infection in India were recorded over 1.65 lakh, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 2,78,94,800 according to the Union Health Ministry data.
The COVID-19 active caseload is 21,14,508 which now comprises 7.58 per cent of the total infections.
The recovery rate is 91.25 per cent, the data stated.
A total of 1,65,553 new infections were registered in a day, while the death count increased to 3,25,972 with 3,460 daily new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.
Meanwhile, some private hospitals are giving package for Covid vaccination in collaboration with luxury hotels in violation of the guidelines and legal action needs to be initiated against them, the centre said on Saturday.
In a letter to the states and union territories, the Health Ministry has directed officials to monitor and ensure that the guidelines are followed while carrying out the National Covid Vaccination drive.
Under the guidelines, vaccination can be carried out at "government and private Covid vaccination centres, workplaces, near to home Covid vaccination centre for elderly and differently-abled persons to be organised at group housing societies".

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Sunday informed that in total 18,265 oxygen concentrators and 7.7 lakh vials of anti-viral drug Remdesivir received as aid from abroad have been delivered or dispatched to states and Union Territories from April 27 to April 29 amid the second wave of COVID-19.
In addition, 19,085 oxygen cylinders, 19 oxygen generation plants, 15,256 ventilators/ BiPAP, 12 lakh Favipiravir tablets have also been delivered through road and air in the said period, the Ministry informed in a statement.
Major consignments received on May 27 and May 29 from South Korea, Indian and Bahrainin Organisations, Indian Community in Shanghai, Indian Business and Professional Group in UAE, Ctrip, and Eli Lily include 225 oxygen concentrators and 5.6 lakh tablets of Baricitinib.
Effective immediate allocation and streamlined delivery to the recipient states/UTs and institutions is an ongoing exercise.
The MoHFW is comprehensively monitoring this on a regular basis. A dedicated coordination cell has been created in the Union Health Ministry to coordinate the receipt and allocation of foreign COVID relief material as international cooperation in the form of grants, aid, and donations. This cell started functioning on April 26.

In a bid to provide critical medical care to COVID-19 patients in home isolation at their doorsteps, ambulances fitted with oxygen supply along with ICU trained medical staff has been deployed in the Alappuzha district of Kerala.
The district administration has joined hands with National Health Mission (NHM) and the state health department to launch the initiative to address the emergency medical needs including timely oxygen support for COVID patients in home quarantine.
"There are nearly 20,000 COVID positive patients in Alappuzha district. Whenever a call comes the team will rush to the spot. The patient will be shifted from home to the ambulance, where the oxygen saturation level and heartbeat will be monitored. The staff is well trained on what to do depending on the oxygen levels of the patient. They can administer oxygen in the ambulance itself," Dr Ajithakumari, District Medical Officer told ANI.
She said that currently nine ambulances have been converted to provide critical care and it will be increased to 12.

The social security cover by the Centre is "sought to be provided to the workers without any additional cost to the employer," the ministry said in a statement.
Currently for the Insured Persons (IPs) under ESIC, after death or disablement of the IP due to employment injury a pension equivalent to 90 per cent of average daily wage drawn by the worker is available to the spouse and widowed mother for life long and for children till they attain the age of 25 years. For the female child, the benefit is available till her marriage.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Sunday added another 250 beds at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Covid hospital in Delhi Cantonment area.
According to a government official, the facilities at the hospital, having 750 beds now, can be further extended.
"DRDO has added another 250 beds at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel COVID hospital at Delhi Cantonment. The facilities at the hospital with its 750 beds can be further extended, in case, there is a requirement. DRDO has built many such hospitals at different places including Ahmedabad, Varanasi, and Srinagar," said officials.

The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Sunday advised private television channels to promote awareness about the four national-level helpline numbers set up to provide assistance to people, including children, senior citizens, those requiring psychological support as well as address queries related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The private TV channels are advised to promote awareness of the following four national level helpline numbers by way of a ticker or such appropriate ways as they may consider at periodical intervals, especially during prime time," Director GC Aron of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry stated in a letter to the private television channels.
The four helpline numbers include 1075 - national Helpline number of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. A dedicated 24x7 call centre - 1075 - was established for addressing the queries related to the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccine rollout and the Co-WIN software.
Among others include 1098 - child helpline number of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, 14567 - senior citizens helpline of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (NCT Delhi, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand) and 08046110007 - helpline number of NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences) for psychological support.
