Coronavirus Cases in India: The recovery rate is 94.59 per cent.

New Delhi:

India recorded 26,567 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of active coronavirus cases in the country to 3,83,866, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday. With 39,045 new recoveries, the number of overall recovered COVID-19 patients stand at 91,78,946, pushing the recovery rate to 94.59 per cent.

The overall COVID-19 cases reached 967,03,770, including 3,83,866 active cases and 91,78,946 recoveries. With 385 new deaths, the casualties mounted to 1,40,958.

Bharat Biotech, the Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical firm that has been developing coronavirus vaccine Covaxin, on Monday said that it had applied to the central drug regulator seeking emergency use authorisation.

It is the third firm after Serum Institute of India and American pharma giant Pfizer to apply for emergency use approval.

Coronavirus News: Assam's COVID-19 Death Count Rises To 997, Tally At 2,14,019
Assam reported two deaths due to COVID-19 on Tuesday, while 94 fresh cases pushed the state's tally to 2,14,019, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, reported news agency PTI. The death count rose to 997 and the overall positivity rate stood at 3.88 per cent against total testing of 55,11,434 samples so far.

Coronavirus News: Sikkim Logs 13 New COVID Cases
Sikkim's COVID-19 caseload went up to 5,215 on Tuesday after 13 more people tested positive for the virus, an official said, reported news agency PTI. Of the fresh cases, 11 were reported from East Sikkim district while two others were registered in South Sikkim and West Sikkim districts. The state now has 363 active cases, while 93 others had migrated out, the official said.

585 new coronavirus cases in Mumbai, seven deaths
Mumbai reported 585 new COVID-19 cases and seven fresh fatalities, the lowest since May, on
Tuesday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.

The city's caseload thus rose to 2,87,175, while death count reached 10,920.

On December 1, the city reported nine deaths. Before that, only five deaths had been recorded on May 1.

Notably, the number of COVID-19 tests carried out in the city crossed the 20 lakh-mark on Tuesday. With nearly 15,000 tests conducted since Monday evening, the tally jumped
to 20.13 lakh.

COVID-19: 294 cases, 9 deaths in Ahmedabad, 295 recover
Ahmedabad recorded 294 COVID-19 cases and nine deaths, the highest for any district in
Gujarat, on Tuesday, taking its tally to 52,630 and death count to 2,137, an official said.

Ahmedabad municipal corporation areas accounted for 278 of the new cases and 273 of the 295 people who recovered, the rest coming from rural parts of the district, he said.

"The city's north-west zone leads with 475 active cases, while the west zone has 464 such cases and south-west zone 420. The overall count of active cases in the city is 2,572 while the number of containment zones came down from 238 to 196 after 42 areas were removed post a review," an AMC official said.

Gujarat reports 1,325 COVID-19 cases, 1531 recoveries; 15 die
With 1,325 new COVID-19 cases, Gujarat's tally rose to 2,21,493 on Tuesday, while more than
1,500 patients recovered from the infection, the state health department said.

As many as 15 more patients died due to COVID-19, raising the statewide fatalities to 4,110, it said.

Recoveries continued to outnumber new cases with 1,531 more patients getting discharged from hospitals during the day, said the department in a release.

This took the number of recovered cases to 2,03,111, said the department.

With this, the COVID-19 recovery rate in the state stood at 91.70 per cent.

Bengal's COVID-19 death toll rises to 8,820, tally at 5,07,995
West Bengal reported 49 more COVID-19 fatalities on Tuesday, pushing the death count to
8,820, while the coronavirus tally jumped to 5,07,995 with 2,941 fresh cases, a health department bulletin said.

The discharge rate improved to 93.59 per cent after 2,971 recoveries were registered in the past 24 hours, it said.

The state now has 23,750 active cases. The total recoveries stand at 4,75,425.

The bulletin said North 24 Parganas district accounted for 18 deaths, followed by Kolkata (16).

Of the 49 deaths, 43 were due to comorbidities where COVID-19 was incidental.

1,345 new cases in Madhya Pradesh, 11 deaths, 1,497 discharged
Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday reported 1,345 new COVID-19 cases, taking the count of infections in the state to 2,17,302, health officials said.

With 11 more people dying, the pandemic's death count rose to 3,358, they said.

A total of 1,497 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the state's overall recovery count to 2,00,664.

Of new fatalities, five died in Indore, two in Bhopal and one each in Khargone, Ratlam, Raisen and Panna districts, the official said.

Of 1,345 new cases, Indore accounted for 516 and Bhopal 315.

UP's Muzaffarnagar reports 21 more COVID-19 cases
Twenty-one more people tested positive for COVID-19 Tuesday, taking the number of active cases in the district to 488.

According to District Magistrate Selvakumar J, 36 more people recovered from the infection. So far, 6,716 people have been discharged.

The district's COVID-19 tally stands at 7,293.

Health Ministry Develops Mobile App For Real-Time Monitoring Of COVID-19 Vaccination

The Union Health Ministry has developed a digital platform, including a mobile application, for real-time monitoring of COVID-19 vaccine delivery, recording data and to enable people to get themselves registered for vaccination.

Addressing a press meet on Tuesday, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said the platform, Co-WIN, will help monitor the entire vaccination process.

"Co-WIN digital platform includes a free downloadable mobile application which can help record vaccine data. One can register themselves on it if they want the vaccine. There are five modules in Co-WIN app -- administrator module, registration module, vaccination module, beneficiary acknowledgement module and report module," he said.

Coronavirus Latest Updates: 61 New Cases Take Nagaland's Tally To 11,479

Nagaland's COVID-19 caseload on Tuesday increased to 11,479 with detection of 61 new cases, PTI reported quoting a health department official.

Of the fresh cases, 35 were reported from Kohima, 22 from Dimapur, and two each from Wokha and Zunheboto, he said.

Eight coronavirus patients recovered during the day, Health Department director Dr Denis Hangsing said.

A new fatality due to the infection was reported from Kohima on Tuesday which has pushed the COVID-19 death toll in the state to 70, he said.

Nagaland now has 628 active cases while 10,666 people have recovered from COVID-19.

Some Vaccine Candidates May Get Licensed In The Next Few Weeks: Health Ministry

Addressing a press briefing on the COVID-19 situation in the country, Secretary of the Union Health Ministry, Rajesh Bhushan, said that the case positivity case is decreasing as the total active cases are below 4 lakh, which is less than 4 per cent of the total number of cases.

Mr Bhushan said that some of the vaccine candidates may get licensed in the next few weeks, adding that preparation for the rollout of the vaccine is being carried out by the central government in collaboration with states and Union Territories.
