Coronavirus Live Updates: India Reports 38,164 New COVID-19 Cases In The Last 24 Hours

Earlier, people from North-Eastern states who arrived in Assam by air or train and directly proceeded to their destination state were exempted from undergoing the COVID-19 test.

The decision was taken due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the neighbouring states, a notification issued by the Health and Family Welfare department said.

According to data shared by the health department, the millennium city clocked four new Covid cases and zero deaths today. The daily case count in Gurgaon had crossed the 5,000 mark during the second wave and the city had recorded a maximum of 22 deaths due to Covid in a day.

Commenting on the welcome development, Dr Virender Yadav, Civil Surgeon of Gurgaon, told NDTV, "This was possible by continuous testing and contact tracing and home isolation visits. Gurgaon has been extremely active when it comes to testing, treating and isolating. Even when it comes to vaccination, we average at least 4,000 tests a day although the process has been hampered of late due to rain."

Young people aged 12 to 15 with severe neuro-disabilities, Down's Syndrome, immunosuppression and multiple or severe learning disabilities will be eligible for vaccination, vaccines minister Nadhim Zahawi said.

With 2,77,870 doses left in Delhi's Covid vaccine bank on Monday morning, the vaccine stock will last for less than a day, according to a bulletin issued by the city government. Out of these, 2,05,630 doses are of Covaxin and 72,240 are of Covishield. Read here.
