Mobile phone company OPPO has shut its factory near Delhi after six employees tested positive for coronavirus. Over 3,000 more employees are being tested, the smartphone maker said in a statement on Monday.
"As an organization that places the safety of all our employees and citizens at the forefront, we have suspended all operations at our manufacturing facility in Greater Noida and initiated #COVID19 testing for 3000+ employees, for which results are awaited," OPPO India said in its statement.
The company says it will resume operations only after the testing is over and will allow those who tested native for the virus to return to work.
OPPO was among the companies that had restarted operations earlier this month after home ministry directives. The factory had reopened with about a third of its workforce, as specified in the government's lockdown easing rules on May 2.
Manufacturing had been allowed in green and orange zones, or areas less affected by coronavirus.
OPPO, which has around 10,000 employees, began with some 3,000, and said they would work in rotation.
Across India, coronavirus cases have crossed 96,000 with over 3,000 deaths.
