Thiruvananthapuram:
A court today admitted a petition seeking a probe into the charge that Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan had sought to influence a judicial inquiry into the 2000 hooch tragedy that left 31 persons dead.
The investigation was sought based on the reported "revelations" made by CPI-M's former Kannur district secretary P Sasi, in a letter to the party's state secretary and
Achuthanandan's bete noir Pinarayi Vijayan.
Sasi, who was ousted from the party a few months ago over certain organisational affairs, had reportedly stated in his letter that Achuthanandan had tried to influence the judicial commission which probed the Kalluvathukkal hooch tragedy in October 2000.
Petitioner Shahul Hameed wanted the court to order an investigation based on the media reports about Sasi's letter.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Cheriyan Verghese admitted the petition and posted it for February 28.
