New Delhi:
A Delhi court on Thursday directed the Tihar Jail authorities to arrange a separate van for transporting to court former Commonwealth Games (CWG) Organising Committee (OC) chief Suresh Kalmadi and five other accused of corruption in the preparations for the Games.
Special Judge Talwant Singh accepted Kalmadi and others' petition and allowed a separate van for their transportation between jail and court.
The accused were arrested for alleged irregularities in awarding a contract for timing, scoring and result (TSR) equipment for the sporting event last year.
The six accused had July 14 moved an application expressing apprehension of being attacked in the jail van by other undertrials.
Kalmadi's co-accused are former OC director general V.K. Verma, former OC secretary general Lalit Bhanot and former OC officials M. Jayachandran, Surjit Lal and A.S.V Prasad.
