Former Goa minister Fransisco Pacheco's police remand was extended by three days by a court on Tuesday in connection with the death of his close friend Nadia Torrado while the latter's mother was granted bail in the same case.
While a sessions court in Margao granted bail to Sonia, who was accused of abetment of suicide, culpable homicide and destruction of evidence in the case, the judicial magistrate extended Pacheco's remand by three days.
Sonia was arrested on July 15 after being frequently interrogated by Crime Branch since May 30, when her daughter died.
Nadia had consumed poison on May 15 and thereafter died after failing to respond to treatment at various hospitals in Margao, Thane and Chennai.
Pacheco and close aide Lyndon Monteiro are accused of being involved in Nadia's death.
The 46-year-old NCP legislator had surrendered before the court on July 3 and was arrested on July 7 after being discharged from the district hospital in Margao.
Pacheco was initially remanded to seven days police custody, which was later increased by four more days.
