New Delhi: Politician Amar Singh has been denied bail - he will not go back to Tihar Jail, however. A court in Delhi today said the Rajya Sabha MP should return to Delhi's AIIMS hospital, where he spent a few days earlier this month. The court has said it's upto doctors at AIIMs to decide how long Mr Singh should stay here.
Mr Singh was arrested on September 6 in the cash-for-votes scam and was taken to Tihar Jail. He complained that he was unwell, and was moved to AIIMS before being granted interim bail.
Mr Singh claims that a kidney transplant last year causes him serious medical problems. His doctors have been asking that he be allowed to travel abroad for treatment.
Mr Singh has been accused of bribing three BJP MPs to vote for the government in a trust vote in July 2008. Mr Singh has been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act. At the time of the trust vote, he was a senior leader with the Samajwadi Party.
