Kolkata: A court will today hear the bail petition of the six arrested directors of Kolkata's AMRI Hospital, where a pre-dawn blaze killed over 90 people earlier this month. The court had, on December 23, remanded them to judicial custody till January 5.
Mr Agarwal, one of the seven AMRI directors arrested on December 9, hours after the blaze at the hospital in South Kolkata's Dhakuria area, has been kept under arrest at SSKM hospital.
The six other arrested directors of the hospital, including Shrachi Group chairman SK Todi and his counterpart in the Emami Group RS Goenka, were given 14 days judicial custody.
Police custody of the hospital's senior vice president (projects) S Upadhyay and senior manager (maintenance) Sanjiv Pal - arrested on December 13 - were extended by four days till December 26.
Kolkata saw its worst fire incident in a hospital in December 2011, when 93 people, mostly patients, choked to death due to toxic smoke in the a pre-dawn fire at the AMRI Hospital.
The state government had declared an ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh to the kin of each of the victims.
