New Delhi: The Supreme Court will today hear the petition on the alleged fake encounter of top Maoist leader Cherakuri Rajkumar alias Azad and journalist Hemchandra Pandey.
The petition was filed by journalist Hemchandra Pandey's wife Vinita Pandey.
The two were killed in July 2010 near Mahrashtra-Andhra border by a team of Andhra Pradesh police.
While the police officially maintained that Azad was killed in a genuine encounter with the police in the jungles of Adilabad forest on July 1, Maoist sympathisers alleged that he and Hemchandra Pandey were picked up from Nagpur and killed in Adilabad. The post-mortem report too drilled holes in the police story.
Maoist sympathiser Swami Agnivesh called it a fake encounter.
