Tamluk, West Bengal: CPI(M) leader Ashok Gudia and four other persons were arrested by police today for their alleged involvement in the killing of Samir Maiti, Trinamool Congress leader and deputy pradhan of Nandigram II Block of East Midnapore district.
Gudia and the four others were produced before a court in Halida by the police.
The court remanded them to seven days police custody.
Maiti was shot dead by gunmen last night when he was returning home from the local market.
