A controversial Facebook post that called RSS worker's killing in Kerala 'good news'
The son of a Kerala CPM leader, who had hailed the killing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh worker K Manoj as "good news" in a Facebook post, has been booked under the IT Act.
Jain Raj, who lives in the Gulf, had deleted the post, allegedly after threats, but its screenshot had gone viral.
The murdered RSS man, E Manoj, was an accused in a case of attack on Jain's father, P Jayarajan in 1999. He had been convicted by the district court but moved High Court and got bail.
"I have been waiting to hear this good news for a long time. Salutations, dear comrades. Feeling excited," Jain had posted in Malayalam. The post, put up at around 2.30 pm on Tuesday, quickly received over 1,000 'likes'.
In the following posts, Jain had justified his comments, describing the attack on his father.
Police said the case against Jain was registered under the relevant provisions of IT Act, which bars posting comments that would create unrest in society.
Manoj was hacked to death on Monday in Kannur district. Bombs were thrown at his van before a group of people attacked him with swords, the police said. A murder case has been registered against eight people, all allegedly affiliated to the CPM.
The killing took place as BJP President Amit Shah visited Kerala.
