Guwahati:
A woman with hearing and speech impairments was raped in Assam, allegedly by a constable from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). He has been suspended. "We have sent the victim for medical examinations," an official said.
On Thursday, three constables went to a local market in the Lakhimpur District of North Assam to use the ATM. One of them spotted the woman with special needs at a tea stall. He then allegedly raped her.
Mohan Singh was later arrested for the crime. The locals who heard the woman's cries for help reportedly caught the constable.
This incident happened on the same day the police arrested a local Congress leader in Assam for allegedly raping a woman. Villagers who heard her shouting for help surrounded the politician and were seen hitting him. They handed him over to the police.
