CRPF men held for selling arms sent to police remand

Rampur: The four CRPF men arrested on Friday for stealing weapons from the CRPF and selling them, possibly to Naxals in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, have been sentenced to 10 days of police remand. (Read: CRPF men among six held for selling arms to Naxals)

They were produced in a local court in Rampur on Saturday. The Uttar Pradesh Police want to take them on remand for further interrogation.

The men were arrested by the Special Task Force of the Uttar Pradesh Police for selling arms to Naxals. The arrests were made after STF raided a CRPF camp in Rampur.

Further raids are now being carried out at CRPF camps in Jhansi, Ranchi, Moradabad. The UP police say a probe will determine whether the weapons were sold to Naxals or other militants. (Read & watch: 76 security men killed by Naxals in Chhattisgarh)
