CWG broadcast deal: PM acts on Shunglu Committee report
New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has referred the Shunglu Committee report on suspended Prasar Bharti CEO BS Lalli's alleged irregularities to CBI.

Prasar Bharti Director General Aruna Sharma, also indicted by Shunglu Committee, has been reverted to her home cadre of IAS in Madhya Pradesh.

Here's a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office:

The Prime Minister has considered the High Level Shunglu Committee Report on Host Broadcasting issues related to the Commonwealth Games and the report on the matter submitted to him by the Cabinet Secretary and decided to :   

i) Revert the Director General, Doordarshan to her parent cadre.
ii) Direct the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting to seek explanations from the Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati and Director General, Doordarshan on the allegations made against them and recommend an appropriate course of action within two weeks.
iii) Direct the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting to review the claims made by M/s SIS LIVE, jointly with Prasar Bharati and in consultation with their financial advisers to ensure that there is no over-payment.  In the event of any over-payment having been made, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has been directed to take appropriate action for recovery, after seeking due legal advice and
iv) Refer matters relating to the relationship between the government and the Prasar Bharati and that between the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Prasar Bharati, as also issues regarding the governance structure and the oversight mechanism put in place by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in respect of such events, to the existing Group of Ministers headed by the Finance Minister, which is being directed to expedite its work so that necessary corrective administrative and legislative measures could be put in place at the earliest.        
v) Refer the report to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
