CWG: Oz advisory warns of terror attacks

New Delhi: After the firing incident at Jama Masjid on Sunday in which two Taiwanese nationals were injured, Australia has updated its travel advisory for India but stopped short of warning people against visiting the Games.

"We advise you to exercise a high degree of caution in India at this time because of the high risk of terrorist activity by militant groups," the advisory said.

"Pay close attention to your personal security at all times and monitor the media for information about possible new safety or security risks. Terrorist attacks could occur at any time anywhere in India with little or no warning."

A linked advisory for the October 3-14 Commonwealth Games was also updated to include information about Sunday's attack.

"Australians in New Delhi should be aware that the Commonwealth Games will be held in a security environment where there is a high risk of terrorism," the advisory said.
