CWG scandal: Now Sonia steps in, says guilty will be punished
New Delhi: With revelations around the Commonwealth Games getting murkier by the day, Congress president Sonia Gandhi has now stepped in saying the guilty won't be spared.

Addressing the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) Sonia Gandhi said the nation's pride was riding on the Games, which were "not any individual's or party's game," and efforts should be made to hold them successfully.

"The success of the Games is that of our country not of any party or of any individual. The PM has himself intervened decisively. The prestige of the nation is involved. Let us not forget this even as we take steps to ensure accountability. I trust that as soon as the Games are over, the government will look into the allegations of malpractice and spare no one found to be involved in them."

Those found guilty of corruption in works related to the Games would be punished after the event, she said.

Sonia also expressed concern at the situation in Kashmir, saying, "We have to reach out to the people."
