Journalist Jarnail Singh, who threw the shoe at the home minister, was a special correspondent with Hindi daily Dainik Jagran. The national daily that claims to have the highest readership in the country, on Wednesday apologised for Jarnail's actions on the front page.
The newspaper has promised disciplinary action against the journalist and apologised to the government.
The front page of the Hindi daily reads-
"In response to Jarnail Singh's irresponsible behaviour, the newspaper has initiated disciplinary action against him. Jarnail's actions during the press conference go against the tradition, rules and values of Dainik Jagran. Jarnail Singh's actions have hurt the sentiments of the Indian government and the home minister and we're sorry for it."
