Jammu: The central government has sanctioned Rs.356 crore for the development and beautification of Srinagar's iconic Dal Lake, said Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand.
Tara Chand, also the Housing and Urban Development minister, said this at a meeting in Jammu on Thursday evening.
Tara Chand hoped the fund would help the lake regain its lost glory.
Dal Lake is the main attraction for tourists visiting the Kashmir Valley. The lake has numerous houseboats and 'shikaras'.
Over the decades, the lake has been suffering from neglect due to dumping of effluents from hotels and houseboats into its waters.
