New Delhi:
The Dalai Lama speaking to NDTV in an exclusive interview said China should become more transparent to build trust with India.
Dalai Lama: Sino - Indian relation must improve- not just a diplomatic smile but real sort of good friendship on the basis of trust- mutual trust... we can build the genuine Hindi- Chini- Bhai- Bhai... I think, sooner or later must develop. Because Tibet is next to the border, so India with that trust with Chinese leaders can help to reduce the problem... This is what I feel.
NDTV: So, what should India's role be in this difference of opinions?
Dalai Lama: This is quite complicated but firstly, Sino - Indian relation must improve- not just a diplomatic smile but real sort of good friendship on the basis of trust- mutual trust...
NDTV: You think there is no trust right now?
Dalai Lama: This you ask the concerned people (laughs)
NDTV: Ok but what about you? you said there should be mutual trust...
Dalai Lama: So on this side... India is a democratic country... the other side, on every level- stayed a secret. So that automatically creates some suspicion. Some of my Indian friends, and particularly those in the Army- in the defense quarters. So naturally, the railway link, and lot of construction of roads, and military buildup inside Tibet, and in the meantime, the border (issue) not solved.
Watch the full interview at 5.30 pm tonight and 10.30 pm on Sunday.
