Union Minister General VK Singh said the Centre cannot be held responsible for the murder of the two Dalit children in Haryana.
New Delhi:
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today came to Union Minister General VK Singh's defence over his
'dog' remark on the killing of Dalit children in Faridabad, saying the matter should not be blown out of proportion as General Singh had already condemned the incident.
On the sidelines of an event in Ghaziabad, General Singh said the government cannot be held responsible if someone throws stones at "a dog". The minister later clarified that his statement was not intended to draw an analogy to the incident.
The BJP defended the minister after his remarks.
"As far as statement of the minister VK Singh ji is concerned, he has himself given a clarification of the same.
He has said he was misquoted. He never meant what was in fact showed in the media. He really condemns the incident, which happened in Faridabad... I think we should not blow the whole thing out of proportion," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra told reporters in Delhi.
When asked about Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) announcement that it will file a First Information Report (FIR)
demanding General Singh's arrest, he said the Arvind Kejriwal-led party is not answering questions about Delhi, where it is the ruling party, and is interfering everywhere else.
Ask the AAP, what did it do when a child from Odisha, Avinash died of dengue because he could not get admitted to a hospital and his parents committed suicide, Mr Patra questioned.
It is better that they take care of the state for which they have mandate, he added.
When the reporters asked about some comments about media which they claimed General Singh had made, Mr Patra said he was not aware of any such remarks but added that the BJP holds the media in high esteem.
