Sitapur: In another instance of hooliganism in Uttar Pradesh, the house of a dalit family was allegedly torched by Samajwadi Party (SP) workers in Sitapur district on Wednesday night. The victims allege that some policemen and SP workers were involved in the incident.
Police and Samajwadi Party however have denied the allegations. Police claim, it was a clash between two different gruops over a land dispute. SP Singh, a police official said, "when we got the information, we went there in time. The two parties registered complaints. After that we came back and heard that there was a fire. Action has been taken against both parties."
The victims have alleged that apart from burning down their house, the assailants have also abducted one of their family members. They claim, instead of helping them, police beat up the members of the dalit family.
