"To emphasis the aims and perspectives of DMK, establish the determination of Tamil Nadu on the issue, echo the fact that Tamils are not subordinates to anyone and at the same time not make anyone subservient and to draw immediate attention of the Central government on this issue, it is resolved to observe a one-day fast on December 12," the party resolved.

While the hunger strike will be held in all corporations and municipal towns, the party will stage a "mammoth human chain" at Madurai, Theni, Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai and Dindigul- all of which receive Mullaperiar Dam water, it said.

Party Treasurer and former Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin will lead the agitation at Theni, Karunanidhi said, adding party seniors K Anbazhagan and Duraimurugan would head it in other districts.
