Danapur-Howrah Express looted in Bihar, 1 injured

Patna:

In Bihar, four persons armed with pistols and rifles looted the Danapur-Howrah Express near Bhaktiyarpur at midnight on Saturday.

A passenger was shot at and critically wounded by the armed men who looted cash, jewellery and other valuables from people on board the train near Barh in Patna district.

The four persons boarded the train at Khusroopur railway station on Saturday night and went on a looting spree in the bogie for disabled persons.

The dacoits looted cash, jewellery and other valuables worth around Rs 1.5 lakh and alighted after pulling the train's chain near Barh railway station in the Patna-Kiul section.

"Four men came down into the train and began to snatch everybody's belongings. They snatched mobiles, money and they beat up our students. Those who didn't give them anything were beaten up," said an eyewitness.

In the past month there were other incidents of looting on trains in Bihar.

On the August 30, a railway employee and a passenger were killed when a train was looted in Bihar's Jamui district.

On the August 18, five passengers were injured when they resisted armed robbers who looted the Patna-Puna Express.

And, on August 2, at least 200 passengers of a train were looted near Jharkhand-West Bengal border.
