New Delhi: Air India is trying to get back on track, after a two-day strike threw the airline completely off gear, forcing 89 flight cancellations and leaving thousands of passengers stranded.

The airline is also likely to dismiss many more striking personnel today. So far, 42 employees have been dismissed and 17 suspended across India. (Read: After end of Air India strike, two unions de-recognised)

More dismissals and suspensions are likely to follow with highly-placed sources indicating that a total of up to 100 employees would face action.

The strike led to cancellation of 130 flights affecting 13,000 passengers. Besides, national carrier also incurred losses to the tune of Rs 12.5 crore due to the strike.

Shortly after the strike was called off, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel told NDTV that the kind of behaviour shown by the striking employees cannot be tolerated repeatedly. "Whoever did it are absolutely irresponsible," he said.

But it seems Air India's troubles are not over just yet. NDTV spoke to the Air India Union leader Dinakar Shetty who said the strike can be called again.

He said, "All India offices sealed. Air India CMD Arvind Jadhav is like Hitler and is supporting private operations. We are waiting for official communication on terminations. We can go back on strike." (With PTI inputs)
