Debate over NSG security for VIPs

Debate over NSG security for VIPs
New Delhi:

The country's elite commando force the National Security Guards (NSG) has officially said that it does not want to protect VIPs anymore and after 26/11 Mumbai attacks there has been a growing sense that perhaps our VIPs are over protected.

Security continues to at least 250 VIPs despite the best efforts of home minister P Chidambaram to prune the list.

While speaking to NDTV, Chidambaram admitted that he hasn't been able to take away the security from politicians who don't deserve any security because of political pressure.

"We have to respect  the reaction made in the Parliament and the response given by the minister and the PMO," he told NDTV.

Sources tell NDTV that some desperate VIPs when faced with a security downgrade have engineered threat letters to substantiate a threat to their lives.
