New Delhi: After Jaswant Singh's statement to NDTV that L K Advani had lied on the Kandahar issue, now Brajesh Mishra, who was the National Security Advisor (NSA) at that time, has come out in support of the expelled BJP leader.
Talking exclusively to NDTV, Mishra said that Advani knew of the decision to send Jaswant Singh to Kandahar when India swapped three terrorists for passengers taken hostage on the hijacked plane IC-814.
Mishra said: "Advani knew all details of Kandahar swap. All Cabinet decisions were unanimous."
Interestingly, Advani has always maintained that he wasn't aware of the decision to send the foreign minister to get the hostages back.
Commenting on the BJP leadership's decision to expel Jaswant Singh, Mishra said that Vajpayee would have never expelled Jaswant.
"Vajpayee would be very hurt at the disarray in BJP. He never buckled under pressure from RSS," he added.
The former political advisor to Vajpayee said that the former prime minister is too unwell to intervene in politics. Mishra also said the BJP must realise that India does not care about Ram Mandir or Article 370.
Last week, in an interview to NDTV's Barkha Dutt, Jaswant Singh had said that Advani was present at the Cabinet meeting where it was decided that Jaswant Singh would accompany the three terrorists to Kandahar.
Taking a direct swipe at Advani, Jaswant had questioned Advani's handling of the hijack of IC-814 as home minister.
